This has been driving me crazy, and I will be glad to finally wrap this decision up

Ive been using what Ive learned on this site to try to choose a diamond. I found this info in an old post by Lorelei:

depth - 60 - 62% - although my personal preference is to allow up to 62.4%
table - 54- 57%
crown angle - 34- 35 degrees
pavilion angle - 40.6- 41 degrees
girdle - avoid extremes, look for thin to slightly thick, thin to medium etc
polish and symmetry - very good and above

Aset and Idealscope look good to me. AGS 000. Hearts and Arrows supposeldy. Within HCA, below 2.5.

My minimum requirements besides the ones above are H color and VS1 (eyeclean). 1.58ct+, around 15k.

Am I missing anything obvious? Priced ok? Any other suggestions?

It's gonna be a beautiful stone.

Wonderful size, color and clarity too.

Ugh, have you talked to them about it? It looks like it's missing the "Eye Clean" designation. Find out what that's about.
Other than looking into that it should be a gorgeous stone.

He said it was eye clean ^^..

It's also VS1 so It would be odd if it wasn't eye clean at that size... but hey- who knows, I've seen weirder things.

Actually, eye clean was/is a requirement... But I had looked at so many eye clean ones, that I didn't notice it was missing. Ugh, it's always something  :))

Guess I'll ask them about it...

Should I open any of those stats in the quote up a little more?

ack, my bad. thought it was a VS1 (no idea what I looking at).

have you asked them whether or not it's eye clean?

Sorry, that's from my rushed post... I put VS1, but meant SI1. I'm still very green to this, even though I've spent more time than I ever thought I would on this.

I have a question in to WF.

Actually, I think I see the clouds in the 8 and 10 o'clock positions. This matches the AGS map.

How bad is this, clouding? The map looks a lot cleaner than others that are designated add 'eye clean'.

I believe WF defines eye-clean as not having visible inclusions from the table-up view at 10" away. On my calls with WF for my diamond, the person could see inclusions from 6" away on some stones, but since this isn't part of the definition, it still had the eye clean stamp. It's always good to speak to a representative that can be your eyes for you.

Keep in mind the picture is magnified. Depending on your eyesight you may or may not be able to see it. Also, depending on where the inclusion it, a jeweler can hide the inclusion with a prong while setting it.

I "think" I see the feathers in the magnified pic, but not the clouds. It looks like it "could" be eye-clean. But yeah, they'll let you know.
I'd also ask if the clouds affect the brilliance at all.

So how does this sound? No biggie? Coin flip? Keep looking?

Neither I or the girlfriend are diamond aficionados. I just want something that she is still happy with years down the road.

From White Flash:

I just reviewed the diamond, and was able to see a tiny light colored
cloud near the girdle of the diamond when viewing at approximately 6” from the top view. I could not see it from 10”.
My colleague also reviewed the diamond, and could only see the inclusion with 10x magnification. How good is your fiancé’s vision?

It is a very clean diamond overall, and when set the inclusion will be even more difficult to see. A prong could probably even be set over the cloud, or near it to distract from the view.

It sounds like you'll get a virtually eye-clean diamond for a non eye-clean stamped price. If that's okay with you then that's great! You won't really know for sure how you'll like it until you get the diamond and see for yourself. It may not be a big deal to some people and it's a big deal to others who want something "mind clean".

Ask if clouds affect brilliance and performance. If answer is yes, pass. Is answer is no, then you are good to go.

I was alerted to this question by one of our diamond consultants. I have reviewed this diamond and found it to be eye-clean and not suffering any transparency deficits. It was evidently not originally posted correctly to the website in terms of our eye-clean standard. I have instructed our IT department to post the eye-clean logo.

TL, thanks for the reply. But I have to say, I have already set up the wire at the bank, and it will be sent first thing in the morning! This is due to the amazing information found on this site that helped me have a enough confidence to make an informed decision. And the outstanding customer service of Brittany at Whiteflash.

But thanks for chiming in. That 'eye clean' designation gives me the final bit of information that will allow me to rest easily!

I havent received the diamond(obviously), but I can recommend Whiteflash 100% so far. Its nice to be appreciated as a customer, and have representatives who will have an honest conversation.
