How does everyone take such great pics of their rings??

I have a Canon Digital Rebel (the best camera in my opinion!) yet I can''t get a great close up shot of my ring! I have used all the different settings, but if I get too close, it won''t take a pic. What am I doing wrong??? I have used the setting with the flower, which I have read a while back to use...Any advise??? Thanks!!

you need to find out what the closest range is for your macro setting. not all are the same. get as close as you can while still allowing the camera to focus. when you reach that point, make sure the camera and the object are both very still. try setting the camera on a table or something stable, you can even use your camera''s timer so that you don''t move it when taking the picture. make sure the camera is focusing on the center of the ring and not something in the background which will cause the ring to look out of focus.
