How do you use / enjoy your jewellery?

Thanks for the replies everyone! This is so interesting.

I like the idea of wearing my pieces, but often find them uncomfortable. I am gravitating towards low bezel settings for rings, everything heavy, smooth and comfortable, that I can wear without worry.

Part of me likes the "signature pieces" approach of wearing the same things all the time. Another part of me would like to mix it up. Maybe I like variety more than I think. My approach is also evolving with time and age :)

Could you show some pictures to illustrate what you mean?
Basically, I am looking for any excuses to ogle other people' gorgeous jewerly :) and maybe get inspired that way :)

This is a good question. I tend to go in "fits" with collecting. I stay busy on PS for a while. When I have had a few larger purchases and need to cool off, I tend to leave and focus on other things. Eventually I return to ogle and lurk .

I love my jewelry, but now that I work from home, I tend not to wear much. There are a few pieces I tend to wear most of the time. I love to shop and acquire novel items, but that does not always translate into wearing the jewelry I buy. I need to clean out the jewelry box.

I like variety, the ability to pick something to go with each outfit.

I get rid of anything that's uncomfortable. Fire example I bought a bunch of pendants and realized they make me itch!!!! So no pendants but I wear jade beads instead and will not buy pendants no matter how pretty.

I love bangles and find them very comfortable to wear so own many. I tend to zero into things that I wear often and buy a different S
selection of each so I have choice.

No matter how much I love something, I couldn't settled with just one or two items. Variety is the key for me. Different colours, designs, shades, sizes.

Good thread! I have to say I enjoy “playing” with my jewellery as much as wearing it. I like cleaning it (little soapy toothbrushes, ultrasonic for some bits, soaking it, blow drying it with a hair dryer - yep really) and arranging it in its trays and moving it next to other bits of jewellery so I colour code it in different ways. My god I sound like Scrooge McDuck and his gold!

I do the same thing. When I get ready to make dinner I take my rings off. I give them a quick run through the ultrasonic.. They go up on an eye level cabinet in my kitchen. I will make special trips to go over to visit and admire them. When dinner is over and I’ve washed all the dishes they go back on. When I’m ready to go to bed they go into a little jewelry carry case. They come upstairs with me to bed. They’re on the table right next to me. In the morning they come back downstairs with me. It’s weird but I don’t feel comfortable if they’re off my fingers downstairs. My studs, necklace and bracelet also go into the case. In the morning they all get a bath again before I wear them for the day. :twirl:

Years ago I watched a show about the auction of Elizabeth taylor’s jewels after her death- Elizabeth Taylor- auction of a lifetime
in it writer Ruth Peltason said of Elizabeth and her jewels ‘She liked to play with them, like a child plays with dolls.’
You are in great company!!!
