So here it is, Monday morning. I have a full plate of work to do today, but I''m feeling really unmotivated. I mean REALLY unmotivated. What are ways you get yourself in the groove to be productive?

I am right there with you, I think today my motivation is that the sooner I crank through as much as possible, the sooner I can get home at a decent hour to have dinner with DH (been working late a lot lately)

My mantra, get it over and be done with it..

I second what simplysplendid says. I usually tell myself that if I don''t do it today, it''s just going to pile up later on into the week, and I like a nice smooth ride into my weekends.

Oooo, rewards! That''s a great motivator for me. I just do silly things, like I''ll tell myself if I finish all my tasks (either at work or at home) in a certain amount of time I''ll reward myself by buying a new book or renting a DVD I''ve been interested in. Just little mind games like that basically. Otherwise I just tell myself to suck it up and get it over with and I''ll feel better for having done my duties in the end and then I won''t have to stress out over feeling unmotivated anymore, lol!

I find that if I don''t start the day strong, I really have to force myself. If I want to have a productive day, I have to be productive (in some way) before the first hour or so of being awake is over! Usually that means exercising, but on sleepier days it''s doing the dishes or a quick cleaning job somewhere in the apartment.

Otherwise, the day''s in danger of being a total WASH!

My kooky soup-making friend and I sometimes set each other a challenge at the beginnig of the day. We each set a work goal, and then we hold each other to it.

Sometimes I bribe myself too. As in ''If I finish X, I can have sushi for lunch!''

I just think of how I''d feel if I don''t reach the intended goal like I should have. Whether it be my work day, at home cleaning, or in life.

"Hmmm, if I don''t get cracking on so-and-so, I''ll be really ticked off about it not being done later." Ususally works for me.

H.Hawk - I love that you actually said how we all feel!! I''ve been doing my job for 2.5 yrs and can do it with my eyes closed. Can you say BORE-dom! :p I have to set small goals, like, if you get x done, then you can go on PS! hahaha.

Honestly, PS is a reward for me...the problem is that I''m finding my "x" is shrinking and often it seems like I can barely get through the small milestones that I''ve set for myself.

le sigh.

What ever happened to all those motivational speakers that said "you know you''re in the right job if it doesn''t feel like work"...

again, le sigh.

work work work. I can sugar coat it all I want...but it''s work to me!

There''s nothing more motivating than a room full of teenagers staring at you waiting for some direction. I''ve had a couple cases of the Mondays when I wanted nothing more than to sit at my desk and stare off into space for a few minutes, but noooooo, my students we''re sitting there, silently demanding an education.

Seriously, though, I''m a procrastinator so I think teaching is perfect for me--if I wasn''t accountable to 125 students every single day I don''t think I''d ever get anything done!
