How do you do it?!?!

How do you get through the waiting period when you're awaiting the arrival of new diamonds?!?! I'm seriously about to start assaulting our postal worker every time he shows up at our door WITHOUT a package for me!!!

DH ordered me a new set of diamond studs for my birthday (which was almost two weeks ago). Of course, they only had white gold ones in stock, and I just HAAAAAAD to have yellow gold to match all my other jewelry!

So, they have to custom-make the yellow gold ones for me, then send them to the appraiser to have them appraised. THEN, they will FINALLY get shipped to me! The SA we've been working with e-mailed me today to tell me that he will e-mail me the tracking info when the studs ship . . . probably around the beginning of next week!!! HOW am I supposed to wait that long???

Sorry . . . just needed to vent!

ETA: Part of the reason I'm so antsy is because the studs I currently wear were given to my by my JERK of an XH, which is one of the main reasons why I'm getting new ones for my birthday. My studs are the only piece of jewelry I wear that were not given to me by DH, and we both really wanted to change that. So, I'm selling my old pair as soon as my new pair gets here . . . I JUST CAN'T WAIT TO GET THESE DAMN THINGS OUT OF MY EARS!!!!!

Annie & Marcy ~ Thanks so much for the support! It really sucks because my birthday was May 31, and DH told me to pick out some new earrings and that would be his birthday gift to me. He''s a wise man . . . he knows better than to try to pick out diamonds without my input! LOL!

So, it''s already been almost two weeks since my b-day, and I''m going to have to wait ANOTHER week! Annie, I really feel for you because yours is probably going to take even longer!!!

Well, I''ll try to look on the bright side . . . this gives me some time to try to figure out how to post pictures before they get here! Wish me luck . . . I''m a computer idiot! LOL!

From what the SA told me in his e-mail yesterday, the appraisal should be finished pretty soon and he''s thinking they should ship early next week. Sooooo, I''m hoping to have them ON MY EARS by about this time next week!!!

NewEnglandLady, you are SO RIGHT! They've been giving me bad mojo ever since the divorce, which was about four years ago.

Buuuuut, they ARE diamonds, and I don't have any other diamond earrings so I can't NOT wear them . . . you have to understand how bad my diamond habit is! LOL!

Here's how I justify it: They were bought with "our" money (not "his" money), so I figure I paid for at least one of them, and I'd look awful goofy wearing just one stud! LOL!

ETA: I love your Lord Byron quote about his Newfoundland! He must have been a dog lover, just like us!

What do you do with bad mojo studs? Can you burn sage or something? Have them exercised by a Catholic priest?
Whateve will you do with them when the NEW lovelies arrive?

That's a good question! LOL! It seems like there should be some sort of "purification ceremony" for diamonds that are otherwise lovely, except for the bad mojo . . . it just seems like such a shame to let perfectly good rocks go to waste!

My Mom has a very small pair of round studs (about 0.33 ctw) and she had mentioned possibly getting my Stepdad to buy my old ones from me as an early Christmas present for her, since my current pair is a good bit bigger than hers (they're 1.0 ctw rounds). BUT, she ran the idea past my Stepdad, and he said "NO! I don't want anything anywhere in this house that originally came from that little SOB!" ("That little SOB" being his pet name for my XH! LOL!)

So, I think my Stepdad IS planning to get my Mom a new pair of studs in the not-too-distant future, but he just didn't want to give her my "bad mojo" ones! LOL! I thought that was great. I honestly didn't mind my Mom wearing them if that's what she really wanted to do, but it makes me feel better knowing that they are just going to be OUT of our family forever!!! So, I'm planning to just sell them to a local jeweler for whatever they'll give me. There's a jeweler in the next town that buys used jewelry, and they seem to have a very good reputation. That's the plan for now, but I'm open to ideas if anyone has any???

ETA: Holy crap, it just occurred to me that I haven't told you guys what my new ones are going to look like! They're princess cut, and they're 1.5 ctw (set in yellow gold, of course).
