How do you determine a cut?

Ok, so a diamond is listed as an ideal cut. How was this determined. Is there a chart to go by, similar to the color and clarity charts?
 
Depends who lists it! There is no generally-accepted definition or standard for "ideal cuts". AGS uses this word for it's own grading standard, but quite a few would make the cut even more strict calling "Harts and Arrows" diamonds "ideal" and so on... Sometimes, the word is just thrown around without any backing at all. With all the above-mentioned mayhem, it is a god idea to understand what "ideal" means in each case... and this is where Pricescope fits in
