Well.....now that you mention it......Date: 2/12/2010 5:13:34 PM

I cry and whine to DH. He brings me flowers and lovely things from the department store he passes on the way home.
Today I had a disappointment and I'm now I'm smoothing on some of my new jar of la prarie skin caviar. He's good.
I like to wallow in any disappointment a little, be spoiled, pampered and then told to snap out of it at the appropriate moment. I also like to go for a long drive and smoke one of my (totally forbidden but stashed under the driver's seat for emergencies) menthol cigarettes. Oh, and eat my own weight in oreos. I basically do things that are slightly self destructive, for a short time. Only slightly. It makes me feel reckless, but better.
Sorry you had a tough week, I hope you find a way through it that doesn't involve oreos or cigarettes. Hugs!

Well, I have a proprietary method of handling my sadness.... I ask for a big hug from my 17 yr old son with Down syndrome. There is, nothing in the world that can keep my spirits down when this boy puts his arms around me, squeezes me tight, and tries to lift me off the floor!!! Short of renting out an exceptional child, I''d say I''d go to Walmart and offer to help an elderly person find everything on their shopping list, or offer to push their cart out to their car and load their groceries. To me, helping someone else always seems to help me find the joy that is often elusive in the daily grind.
Jo, I wish you the best. I am much more a lurker than a poster in the personal fora. I often send out prayers for you and others that have hit a rough patch.
