Please see the link above. I posted about this stone earlier, but would appreciate some feedback. I see some quite a bit of white in one of the report/pictures, and have no clue how to read any of the stats/reports. Some input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

DrCPA

My computer won''t copy and paste the link. What color and clarity is it? Then I''ll go look.

Sharon, thank you.

(good to see you btw)

dr, I know very little about this type of cut, but I can address the white in the IS image. (the red and white photo) White represents leakage, but some is acceptable, and can add to the contrast of the stone. It doesn''t look too bad to me, but again, I''m very unfamiliar with these stones.

Hopefully someone more knowlegable will chime in.

Thanks Sharon for fixing the link, what are your thoughts?

Thanks for taking a look...there are a bunch of other reports at the bottom (some require a special software), any idea what those mean? I''m looking to get an amazing cut cornered square with the best light performance...something that rivals an AGS 0 princess. Any idea where I can find something like that?

Your best bet is to talk with GOG about what it is you want. They are an honest company and will be truthful about everything. There are many here who have gotten fantastic stones from them, including me. Just give them a call on Tues., they are closed Sun. and Mon.

Thanks...I was there yesterday and I''m going to go back tomorrow to look at this stone, but I wanted some unbiased opinions on it. I really want to get something amazing, and I''m willing to wait until it comes along. Thanks for your input it''s greatly appreciated!

Well for heavens sake, you don''t need us, you''ve got your eyes!

Go back and compare it with an AGS0 Princess and see how it performs. Take them in all lighting situations possible, including outside or by a window. Then see what you think!

HI:

Well, they are limited as I know only a little of this shape! I did, however, buy a radiant diamond last year--but I was fortunate to see it face to face and therefore used my eyes in judging it's merit. That is not to say I did not perform due dilligence; I did--it was lab certified, and independantly appraised, and I studied Dave Altas' fancy shape info. For waht it's worth, it is my belief that fancy shapes are a different animal than rounds, and often need to be seen in person to determine "style and cut" preferences. From your other post, I got the impression you would be able to see this stone in person, am I right? Anyway, should you buy online, GOG has an inspection period and return policy.

BTW, as you asked, please read the following on proportion analysis and other info in the tutorials under the knowledge thumbnail at the top of the PS page.......

Well, it certainly looks promising from the pictures! You are indeed very fortunate to be able to go to Good Old Gold in person! Oh how I''d love to be able to go there and see several stones at a time! I had the best experience buying from them long distance and have 100% confidence in their integrity. Jon or Tim will tell you the pros and cons of each stone and which one they think is best within your parameters. They''ll also bring in stones if they don''t have what you want. But I think this cut-cornered square stone might be fabulous! Please come back and tell us what you think after seeing it!

well since you''re going back. Look at it this time with an ASET scope. They should have one.

Thanks Ellen. I''m not going to a lie, I''m a bit oblivious when it comes to this kind of stuff, and most diamonds look pretty similar to me. I''ll definitely use my judgment when it comes to buying the stone, but I want to buy something that is flat out amazing, and the more unbiased opinions the better. Thanks!

Thanks for your input. I''m in the area for a few more days, so I''d like to look at as many things as possible. The link you posted is very helpful. Thank you!

whatmeworry,

What is an aset? How do I read it? What are your thoughts on the half dozen or so reports in the link posted above?

Thanks!
