How do I find an independent appraisal

Hi Everyone,

I recently got engaged! I''ve been reading this forum a while, so I know I should get an independent appraisal. The question is, how do I go about finding a reputable apprasier? I live in the San Francisco area. Thanks for any help!

Looking under CA, there are a few in CA, but maybe someone knows a good place you can go close to home? If not there are appraisers further away you can mail your ring to, and they are very trusted here on PS, so I would recommend them, if you don't like the CA ones you find...




David Atlas and Richard Sherwood come to mind...Do a search on them (or if they read this...) they are said to be PHENOMENAL!
