Hi everyone,

I''m new to this forum and I''m quite excited that I''ve found it. This place is FULL of useful and intreresting facts to help newbies, like me, get educated on diamond purchasing! Thanks guys!

Let me get to my point. I just chose a diamond for an e-ring and was wondering how did I do on my selection.

Here is the information (GIA report):

-----------------------------------------------------------
Round Brilliant
Measurements: 6.17 - 6.22 x 3.84 mm
Carat Weight: 0.90
Color Grade: I
Clarity Grade: VS2
Cut Grade: Excellent

Proportions:
Depth: 62.0 %
Table: 55 %
Crown Angle: 34.5°
Crown Height: 15.5 %
Pavilion Angle: 40.8°
Pavilion Depth: 43 %
Star length: 50 %
Lower Half: 80 %
Girdle: Medium, Faceted
Culet: None

Finish:
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Fluorescence: None
Clarity Characteristics: Crystal, Needle, Cloud, Feather

----------------------------------------------------------

This is all the information I have on the stone, there is no idealscope or anything else provided. Is there anything I should be worried about when buying a diamond base only on the gia report (i.e. excellent cut)?

Also, when choosing a setting, what ring width would look best for a diamond of this size (2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm...)? I was think of a simple yet elegant design, something like a classic tiffany or "sleek lines" solitarie ring from whiteflash.

Thanks for the help!!

Welcome Diane,

The diamond looks great! An IS image is always nice to confirm, which vendor has it? As to the setting, I don''t think you can go wrong with either personally!

Ditto!

And I like your setting choices too. The sleek line is one of my faves.

It''s good to konw that this diamond will look great!! because I''ve purchased it and there''s no turning back!!

I wasn''t able to get an IS image, all I was provided with was the dimensions on the report. My dealer said it''s a very nice stone as it scored 1.3 on the HCA, so that''s all I had to go by when choosing this diamond. I hope he''s right.

Thanks for your opinions!

Oh, and I found this amazing ring too on Dimend SCAASI:

It looks extremely clean and elegant, I hope my goldsmith can replicated it exactly.

Thanks again!!

Diane, I wouldn''t worry, the numbers on your stone are some of the safest. I''m sure it will be gorgeous! And I love the setting picked, very pretty!!

Please come back with pics if you can.
