How comfortable is pave?

Dumb question ahoy, but when looking at settings with pave (especially micro pave, like in the setting shown below), it looks really scratchy to me. I would assume it''s not actually since people here wear it and seem to absolutely love it, but thought I''d ask to be sure. Is it comfortable to wear, or does it scrape against the sides of your fingers on either side?

I prefer to keep the pave to the top of the ring since I find that the pave on the sides does dig into other fingers. It''s only noticeable when I carry a bag though. I prefer satchels to shoulder bags and the weight of the bag presses the ring into other fingers. If you don''t carry or hold something on heavier side on regular basis, this setting might work for you.

There was a thread on 5 stone rings vs. eternity bands that discussed this issue in great detail, so try to search for it

Oh really? I would not have known to look there for this topic. Thanks for the suggestion!

pave rings don''t bother my fingers at all. larger shared prong rings are the one''s that I tend to notice the diamonds digging if I squeeze my fingers together. I think most gals just get used to whatever style ring they have.

my stones are all between 1 to 2 pointers, both e-ring and wedding band and they don''t scratch or bother me in the least. with bigger stones it''s likely to be a bigger potential issue.

There are no dumb questions! My ring has micropave on the shank and I can''t even feel it. No worries.

I have the ritani endless love pave. I guess if I rub my fingers together I can tell that it''s not a smooth polished surface, but I never notice it otherwise. My band is very thin though, so it''s quite comfortable.

I think I stand in the minority when I say that pave really does bug me and is the reason I went with a smooth wedding band in the end. I was given a pave ring with milgrain for Christmas last year and it was really uncomfortable to wear. I think it was the combination of pave AND milgrain that did it. I love the pave look and I would wear it as a dress ring, but not as a wedding band to wear 24 hours a day.

I tried on a LOT of pave rings before we selected mine, and some were indeed very scratchy feeling. That is part of the reason I fell in love with the Ritani endless love because it is very smooth and comfortable. I would want to try on whatever I was buying BEFORE the purchase if possible.

Another Ritani Endless Love owner here and I have to agree that the pave doesn''t bother me at all. It is not smooth, if I were to rub it, but it is not "scratchy" either and never catches on anything.

I was afraid of it being uncomfortable also. I went with the look that goes across the top & part way down the side (not on the shank). That way it doesn't rub the sides of my fingers but I still get the endless love look!

(Yet another) Ritani owner here, and my ring is perfectly comfortable. I never even notice the pave. I even played tennis in it once (sshhhh...it was an accident

) and it was even comfortable gripping/hitting. I love it!

The ring you are showing is by Michael B right? I have the 3 sided petite princess rings by Michael B and they are not scratchy at all. The only thing that bugged me at first was they were a bit thicker than the rings I was used to but I got over that fast. Once in awhile the pave bands do catch on my sweaters but not very often.

I have a fishtail pave set, almost identical to the MB you posted. Extremely comfortable, no issues whatsoever. I think LARGER stones (much, MUCH larger) might cause me some comfort issues... but not these little baby stones.

I have pave (and milgrain also) on my ring shank as well and it does not bother me at all. If you are concerned about it, you should go try on some rings with pave on the shank before you decide. Just keep in mind that the quality of the pave will have an effect on how it will feel on your finger. I tried on some less expensive pave rings that felt terrible (I am assuming because the pave prongs or beads were not finished off properly).

My pave e-ring usually doesn''t bother me. However, in the winter when my fingers are smaller it sometimes does because the ring is too big. This causes it to rub on the other fingers more than when it''s snug. Most of the time I don''t realize it''s on though.
