How color sensitive are you?

Here is a fun test of your ability to distinguish between similar colors.

Not sure if it applies to diamonds, but maybe it does? If you take the test, share whether you think your score reflects your own experience of being "color sensitive" to diamond tint.

Holy crap.
You have perfect color vision!
Your score: 0
Gender: Female
Age range: 30-39
Best score for your gender and age range: 0
Highest score for your gender and age range: 1520

Although I'm jetlagged, I couldn't resist, since I love to study diamond colour and fancy myself as a D-fancier. I scored 3. Then I put in my age and gender. But I'm not sure what the max is. Did I score 3 out of 10? Confused of Boston.

:appl: And appropriate, given your profession!

Neat test! I'm looking forward to taking it this evening!

Thanks, I kind of felt like I was a cheater in this instance, considering I HAVE to know color well.

I took that test before when it was over in colored stones. I got a 2

This is what I'll say about "color sensitivity " and diamonds. I feel like its a blanket statement that doesn't really mean what some use it for. "Color tolerance " seems more accurate a statement. Can you tolerate g and above? Can you not tolerate stone that are icy white? Do you like stones that are creamy?

I think of sensitivity as being able to see it, (like the point of this post) but tolerance is if you like it or not.

Not exactly what you posted dreamer but that's my rant

I scored an 8, which is on the lower end.

Your score: 8
Gender: Female
Age range: 20-29
Best score for your gender and age range: 0
Highest score for your gender and age range: 198857

Not bad!
Your score: 4
Gender: Female
Age range: 30-39
Best score for your gender and age range: 0
Highest score for your gender and age range: 1520

And FWIW, I am pretty color sensitive when it comes to diamonds.

I scored 3 also. The low point of color discrimination was in the pinks, and it was perfect in the blues & greens. Interesting because I love blue, green, yellow gems (& cominations of those colors) & am not as nuts about pink or red ones.

Going to send this to DH to take. I swear he's color blind -- we argue about what color something is all the time! :wavey:

Funny, mine was the opposite. My low point was the blues and greens.

Well I see how my tolerance is and why I also love lowered colored diamonds as I got a 31!!!!!!

but my impatience to finish quickly also might have added to lowering my score  :P

Your score: 31

By your definition, I was in fact asking about sensitivity, which is how I use the term anyways.

I scored 0. Good thing my center stone is an E!

Your score: 0
Gender: Female
Age range: 40 - 49
Best score for your gender and age range: 0
Highest score for your gender and age range: 1520

I'm kind of shocked. My vision has gone downhill over the last couple of years and I assumed detecting colors went with it.

Yes I agree your post is about sensitivity I was saying I feel like a lot of people use the term over in rocky talky in a misleading way. Again not saying that here, I was just commenting on the use of the term. Your right. I do think this post is sensitivity. Just you were talking about diamonds too, so I was just saying.... :))

Your score 26
Gender female
age 50-59

I guess I have old eyes glad my Diamond is H and not a D or a K.....I guess

I've taken this test several times and received a perfect score each time, so I know I'm very color sensitive (this plays out in real life too, I'm very good at seeing color even in colorless range diamonds). But my color tolerance is very broad - I loves me some cape colored goodness!

The varied results here are a good example of why it's so hard to answer the question "do you see any yellow in the diamond?" - which is a question I receive often. The answer is always - it depends on who is doing the looking!

Your score: 33
Gender: Female
Age range: 40-49
Best score for your gender and age range: 0
Highest score for your gender and age range: 1520

Better than I expected, as I haven't been considering myself color sensitive. But, I think i understand what Niel was getting at with color tolerance.

I love things like this! I scored a 0, which is good since I'm a graphic designer - it's sort of a required job skill. So, while I'm color sensitive, I'm also extremely color tolerant.

I got an 8. Maybe wearing my glasses would've helped.

Apparently, I'm blind as a bat compared to you all!

Your score: 78
Gender: Female
Age range: 30-39
Best score for your gender and age range: 0
Highest score for your gender and age range: 1520

On the plus side, since I'm not color sensitive, I can go lower in color! :loopy:

I scored 19. It looked perfect to me when I submitted it!

11. Explains why a K colored diamond looks perfect to me.

It's also my birthday so I've been drinking all night.

Apparently I have very low color acuity.
I prefer warm diamonds, and can't really see the warmth I like until the L-M-N-O range, wonder if this is why.

Your score: 146
Gender: Female
Age range: 30-39
Best score for your gender and age range: 0
Highest score for your gender and age range: 1520

22. Without two glasses of wine it would have been better than that. Or worse. Who knows!

Took it again and scored 89. Looks perfect every time to me!
My acuity is poorest with blue and green hues.

holy Crayola!
I did this some years back and didn't do well at all!!!
tonight?!

Based on your information, below is how your score compares to those of others with similar demographic information.

This was fun until...

Your score: 16
Gender: Female
Age range: 30-39
Best score for your gender and age range: 0
Highest score for your gender and age range: 1520

Ugh! I thought it looked great when I clicked submit! :| Makes sense that I can tolerate a J color stone! I'll go low and large, thank you very much! :naughty: See! Silver linings!! HA!

and... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, sox!! =)

12 - so I won't be wasting my diamond money to inch up a color grade or two!

I knew it was wrong in some areas, but did not know how to fix it.

When my SIL's and I get together for a holiday weekend, we usually break out a jigsaw puzzle. I've always contended that working jigsaw puzzles helps with color discrimination. I guess I should try to fit in a few more puzzles! :wink2:
