I AM CONFUSED!! I have read on here that you should not use HCA with AGS stones, but if they are cut for ideal light performance and the certification rates light performance as 0 how can Fire, Scintillation and Spread score VG on the HCA.

Wouldn't the numbers still produce the same results on the HCA as a GIA stone would? I am considering the following stone and I am just really confused. I really want a stone with great fire and brilliance.

Scope 1
1.26 H SI
AGS 000
Dept 62
Table 55
Crown 34.4
Pav 41
6.90x6.93x4.29

Or I could get a GIA 3X that scores 1.3 on HCA Ex, Ex, Ex and VG
Dept 62, Table 55, Crown 34.5 and Pav 40.8

Looks fine, don't worry.

The HCA is a rough outline of how a stone could perform. It is used as a rejection tool, not for selection.

AGS did the light performance analysis for you. The numbers and image look good. :wavey: In much the same way as I wouldn't expect someone to reevaluate a spouse's personality after 10 years of loving marriage just because one read a high school yearbook blurb, I wouldn't discount an AGS 0 stone because of an odd HCA. The 3d light performance work took care of it with much better data. :read:
