I believe RB''s face up larger than Princess....where do Cushions fall?

Also, whats the difference between cushions and Xfactor princess? Sorry if thats a stupid question!

Cushions can be more or less than the same carat round.
X factors are princesses with smallish clipped corners, so it has 8 sides.

From what I have seen, a well cut cushion typically faces up smaller than a well cut round.

Cushions are more pillowy and have rounded edges. X-factor princess cuts have sharp clipped corners.

Ditto Julie, just to add that *most* cushions will be smaller than a well cut round, but there are exceptions. They'll still be bigger in general than princesses though, they face up really small.

Someone pasted this link in another thread and it is very helpful to print out. It has all the shapes with their carat weights and mm''s. If you print it, it should be life size. :-)

Be careful with this because some of the fancy shapes can be quite off from the carat weight. It should be used by the MM measurements only, don''t really listen to the carat weights listed for fancies, they can vary so much.

There are no hard and fast rules, this question can only really have a concrete answer if comparing actual diamonds as cut qualities can vary and the resulting face up size, as Neat says they can vary so much. X Factor Princess are Whiteflash's exclusive brand and have clipped corners.

What Lorelei says is right. There is a chart somewhere that shows similar proportions of stones and shapes based on ct. weight. I''m not sure where it is on the forum. I know when I was looking for my stone that and ideal cut round of similar weight would have measured balpark of 8mm diamater and I was looking for an emerald cut but the measurements are 9mm by 7mm. So if you look at it they probably face up similarlly however the proportions are different. If I looked at a round side by side with my diamond in similar weights some would look smaller and some would look larger.

Why did I just tell you this? Cause it is more important to find the shape that you like and then try and find a very well cut stone that will face up as large as possible without sacrificing in other areas.

I believe this is the same one that was already posted for the OP to peruse.

Thanks for all the info so far! I have always been a princess fan, but cushions have been appealing to me lately... maybe for in the future

They seem to sparkle a little (a lot) more.

My next question: Do cushions seem to cost more than the other cuts (RB,princess in particular)? I know there are many other factors regarding pricing, but just as in general.

No. RB''s cost the most usually per carat.
