I'm looking to have a custom ring made and I love the proportions of the halo on this ring.It has a 1.01 Ct center stone. It's a Christopher Designs split shank halo. Here're the specs: 611-RD100_S1236 Ring with 1.01ct FSI1 Crisscut® round center and 1.15ct GVS1 Crisscut® sides surrounded by 0.22ct GSI1diamonds.The sides graduate so the stones are not all of the same size, so I can't tell what size the melee stones are in the halo.
Thanks so much!! :)

The surrounded by .22cts would make be think that that they were .02's but they look larger than that. I would have guessed that they were .04-.05's but I really couldn't say for sure.

Yeah, it would take someone with match skills and I don't have those to figure out the circumference of that diamond and then work out the spread of each of those stones. I would say 3-5 if I have to guess though but Christina is right the .22 makes it sound like 2 pointers.

Ok ladies, if I wanted that look, what size would you use with a 1.25 center stone? .04s? I want a substantial halo without looking cocktaily.

I would work with a great designer and ask them to suggest a melee size and then to either draw you the halo to scale based on their suggested melee or do a CAD so you can see the proportions. That's what I recommend.

Who do you want to work with, what do you want and what is your budget? And do you want vendor recommendations?

I've never done custom so I don't know who to use, I would love recommendations! My budget is around $3000. Thank you!

Your only talking about a .5mm spread difference between the 1ct in the photo and a 1.25ct. I agree with Gypsy that it's best to work with your vendor and have them do some CADs with different proportions or draw it to scale. Without knowing exactly what the size of the melee is, we'd just be guessing. A good vendor would have a fairly close idea just by looking at the photo.

I've actually seen some Beverly K or Gabriel & Co, designs very similar to this if you weren't interested in going custom. I'll see if I can locate them quickly to give you an idea. If I'm not right back it's because my screaming kid won!

Brian Gavin Diamonds just did a halo with larger melee for a PSer and it looked fabulous. I'm sure that I can't find the thread quickly, but I promise to take a look and find it for you. I think he would be a good option. Good Old Gold is doing custom work now too. Whiteflash is another good option.

There are also the masters like Steven Kirsch, Leon Mege and Victor Canera. I'm not sure if these three will be in your budget or not, but all there work is hand forged and remarkable. I think it may be worth contacting them though.

Engagement Rings Direct too =)

Here are a few to get you started. None of them are like the one you posted, but they all have larger melee in the halo. There are about 40 pages of halos on the gabriel site, so you may find some inspiration there. =)

I'm sorry Ruby24 but I can't seem to find the ring that BGD did. I'll try looking again tomorrow for you, but right now my lil guy is not so patiently waiting for me to watch super heros with him... again!! I'll check back in with you tomorrow though. =)

Thank you Christina!

Hi Ruby, I've worked with BGD and been very happy. I think depending on what you want (how many diamonds you want everywhere else) your budget could be okay. Mark at Engagement Rings Direct also does lovely CAD work. So for me, I'd get a quote from each vendor and go with the one you feel best about.

Other than a big halo around the center, what else do you want? Because 3k could be a great budget or it could be unrealistic.

I basically want it almost exactly like this ring, I really love the way it graduates down the shank. The only change is I want a more simple bridge. I would like 2 bezel set peek a boo diamonds on either side like the Ritani.

Okay. Yeah. Your budget needs to be 5k or so for that sweetie. Especially with the double shank. 4k with the single shank.

What about working with unique settings of NY
http://www.uniquesettings.com/products/engagement_rings

They are a casting house, and I've heard that they are reasonable priced and do nice work. I don't personally have any experience with them, but others here have.

Have you tried this particular piece on? I'm wondering how secure the split bands feel when you close your fingers around it? I'm sure that it's structural sound, but I have visions of making a fist and popping the shank. :o

I was thinking about this tonight.

I think it can be done, with a double shank for 4k. I'd ask ERD (Engagement Rings Direct) if they can make this via CAD for you for 4k if you can afford upping the budget. Talk to Mark directly and mention PS. Okay?

That designer setting is $5500, so I thought someone could make it cheaper especially since I'm taking out diamonds. I have tried it on and drooled the entire time, it's gorgeous!! I have fairly small fingers (4.25), so I'm not wanting to put a band with it. That's why I love the graduated split shank, it gives good finger coverage. I'll look at the jewelers you guys have recommended. Thanks!

This thread is super old but I was wondering what you ended up with? Because I’m redesigning my ring with the same inspiration designer (Christopher).
