How is everyone addressing their invitations? Printing via computer, by who? Calligraphy? By your own Hand ?

Just curious since there are so many options

My mom and I are attempting calligraphy by hand. My mom has a beautiful handwriting and mine isn''t too shabby either -

My mom is very talented in calligraphy, but I''m not quite sure if she can handle over 150 invitations...so, i may have to start practicing my own calligraphy soon.

Wow - Impressive.. Can you post a sample of your work???... I was thinking of trying my hand at this... There are sites on the web
that shows you how to do this.. and I heard the calligraphy pens that are sold at Michaels are very easy to use....

You inspired me....

My mother did all of the calligraphy by hand (outer and inner envelopes). Here is the thread I posted to show off her talents!

If you don''t happen to be spoiled and related to a calligrapher, there are so many beautiful printing options available, too. My best friend is having her envelopes printed in silver and they''re going to look amazing.

How gorgeous - You lucky lucky girl...

What a lovely idea..

The silver printing sounds nice,, especially since my envelopes might be black

Where is she having this done?

We definitely don''t have room in our budget for calligraphy, and I don''t know anyone with writing better than my chicken scratch who would be willing to do it, so we are printing labels for the outer envelope and I am just writing by hand as neatly as possible on the inner envelope. I know it''s against etiquette, but it had to be one of those things I chose not to care about.

My FMIL and FSIL addressed the invitations by hand. I''m not totally pleased with how they came out but at least they''re done.
We had tried to print them out on our printer at home but we couldn''t get it to work. That''s what we did for the save the date envelopes and they looked great. It was annoying that the printer wouldn''t cooperate for the invitation envelopes. Oh well, they''re done and ready to be mailed next week or the week after.

FI and I both have ridiculously terrible handwriting (and i''m not being cute-FI''s dad once yelled at him for writing a note so messy that he couldn''t read it, when i had actually written it

), so we will be printing the addresses.

i think i saw this idea in a magazine or something where the address was printed at the end of a long strip of paper (color coordinated to the envelope/wedding colors) and it was wrapped around one edge of the envelope (and maybe the return address was at the other end on the other side of the envelope? maybe?) anyways, i think we might do something like that.

I''m sending them to a very kind freind who has offered her time and expertise to be printed up on professional printers. They are going to look beautiful. Brown ink. I''m letting her chose the font. I''m only reimbursing for costs and shipping, which is extremely generous her.

Depending on the envelope we use, I will probably be doing my own calligraphy. I did my sisters (close to 200!) four years ago and another friends two years ago, so I will just need to practice a little before hand. For someone looking to do it themselves, I recommend trying a pen that sort of resembles a fountain pen, only you replace these little liquid ink pods inside it. It writes very nice, and looks like you used a fountain pen...but who really wants to dip and write? I would worry so much about ink drops!!

I am trusting my parents!

In the UK you write the peoples names in Ink on the top left-hand corner and then there is just the one envelope.

My parents have nice handwriting and as they aren''t as OCD as me they should look naturally nice as they won''t have tried TOO hard and buggered them up like I probably would.

We only have single envelopes here so they''ll just handwrite those as well.

I saved the page that was on! The template is supposedly somewhere on the martha stewart wedding site, but I've never been able to find it.

I think some of the invitation sites carry these too... Or maybe even a printer.. I think they are pretty popular as I have come across them quite often.
I will look around and post as soon as I find these

I''ll keep looking and i''ll let you know if i find it!

My fiance actually taght himself to do caligraphy for this book he made for me when we got engaged. Our plan is to choose our invites soon and try to get the envelopes so he can do a few at a time. I just realized though we are also going to need to do save the dates.... that might be a little too much. Is it against proper etiquette to do labels for those?

FI''s wonderful 84-year-old great-aunt has agreed to do our addressing. Not calligraphy, but she has beautiful handwriting and we are super grateful :)

My Mom has beautiful handwriting and I hinted around about her helping with the invitations.

It was obvious she wanted no part in it... and this is a day after telling my she was not going to contribute to the wedding...Just give us our wedding gift before the wedding...$2,500 so we can use it for that...

it is not a money issue... since they are going on a two week trip to Europe... It is about being a ( insert word of choice here )

I have NO IDEA why this is going on... my FI is one of the best men in the world I know... I am thinking it might have to be something about my Dad being such a jerk,,, and it seems like it is rubbing off on my MOM.. sorry ...this all came spilling out
