I''ve learned a lot about diamond pricing from PS, but what I still have yet to figure out is how settings with side stones are priced. For example, one with more diamonds could be less than one with less diamonds and all kinds of other combinations.
I figure, there has to be a way to break down the cost per ct.
What I have done so far is taken total price less band cost, less $7*# diamonds for setting and divide that number by total ct for cost per diamond.
an example
setting costs $1280 with 12 stones and total ct of .48. If I assume the metal is $150 I have $1130. Setting the stones costs $84 (12*7), so the diamonds costs $1046. That divided by .48 is $2,179 per ct.
The problem is, I have no consitency when I do this with other settings.
Please correct the errors in my assumptions
