I acquired this from Ivy&rose. It's not as red as the photos they posted, but I am not totally disappointed. The stone has inclusions but a great hot pink glow.

I quite dislike the side aquas...so definitely planning on resetting this someday.

Would a thin diamond halo in 18k yellow gold make this stone pop?

I don't know whether to call it a ruby or a sapphire...

I'd call it sapphire. Yes, I think a thin diamond halo would make it pop. All you see with the aqua sidestones are the tilt windows, so I'm not a fan of the current seeing for the sapphire, either.
 
It’s a lovely colour, a solitaire could be lovely but I don’t dislike the setting if only the aquas were nicer. The proportions are very good to my eye. Imagine the aquas gone and some nice diamonds slotted in there instead :twisted:

That is a lovely hot pink sapphire! The tilt windows on the aqua unfortunately do not do justice to the ring.

I'd halo anything so that's my vote! Gorgeous sapphire and I agree with he others on the aquas.
 
It is stunning!!! Love that color and size. And yes, a halo would be amazing.
 
Wow. What a pink color!!! I actually like the aquamarines. Maybe not an optimal look, but the contrast with the pink is really cool!!
 
That is a wild color! Absolutely love! And I think it's way cooler than a ruby. And the inclusions really work in your favor!

I agree that the side stones are in a different league (and not in a good way) and the angle at which they are canted in the setting is particularly poorly suited to their geometry.

I'm told that some old pink Mogok material was still called "ruby" back in the day but this looks like sapphire on my monitor.
 
Gorgeous! It is the hottest pinkest sapphire in my opinion that deserves its own name. I am sad this stone is not mine :(sad And this baby deserves a new setting for sure.

My ring it STILL in the works on Sept 10th since being planned Aug.7. The waiting sucks! I keep bugging her to send me pics. Apparently it's with the setters who aren't used to taking pics during the progress stage...lol.

@CSpan the wait is nuts for me. I should get photos of the setting this week. I am keeping my fingers crossed that in 3 weeks it will be on my finger (my jeweler has a wait time of 2 weeks!)
