So today while I had some free time I decided to get a little crazy with my hair and make up...

I love doing hair and make up and I'm usually the one my friends come to if they need it done for any occasion.

So this is what I created today. I did a very pale nude color on my lips. I did purple liner on the eyelids with orangish blending into brown on the crease.

I was going for the messy look with the hair. It's not supposed to be smooth or sleek.

Thoughts? What occasions is this look, look appropriate for? I'm kinda diggin it and I have an engagement shoot coming up soon...so I thought..maybe

Be as honest as you want!

I couldn't get a very clear image because my digital camera is dead so I'm using my laptop's camera :nono:

Very pretty! I like it!

The back of the hair feels like it's missing something though.. I'm not sure.. but it's still very nice. :appl:

First of all - I want your hair.

I love the makeup, especially the eyes. I think if you chose it for an engagement shoot it would look stunning! I also think this is a great look for going out to dinner, or even just a girls night.

you need to share the steps for that eye makeup. I love it!

I was thinking that too...I just can't figure out what it might be? Maybe there needs to be more volume in the back so that the sides look more flat which maybe will = more dramatic look?

I agree about the hair. A bit more curl maybe? I also love barrettes, you could try pinning it with a barrette in the back, in case there are any shots where you are turned around, I think a barrette would give some nice visual interest to the back.

The makeup looks really nice though. That's the one girly thing I never mastered... and none of my girlfriends are big on makeup either so I have no one to teach me!

Thank you! I wasn't sure if it would be too much for engagement pictures...

Ok so its very simple (or at least it was)

First,

I put on Maybelline eyeshadow that comes in this shimmery orange color. I put that over the entire eyelid. I couldn't tell you the name because it rubbed off..but once I get back from my weight watchers meeting I'll post a picture of the shadow.

Next, I put on another color that came with it that is a reddish/orangish on the crease.

After that, I got a q-tip and lightly dabbed it in a black shimmery shadow and lightly blended it in with the eyelid make up.

Next, I put purple liner on the very tip of the lid along the eyelashes and did the same on the bottom.

After it actually settles a little bit it looks best. If it looks a little funny at first, it won't 30 minutes after you apply it.

I also put on some mascara to both the upper and lower lashes (especially lashes for the more dramatic effect).

I noticed something was missing so later on I added some of the black shadow to the bottom lids but only half way. I also did that with a q-tip. I added some to the outer corners as well..

For bronzer, I used Bobbi Brown Brick Compact in Beach. I think everyone should own it :)

For lips...I always really love nude colors for some reason. So I used Victorias Secret "Slice of Heaven" and only a little tiny bit.

I think you look beautiful!

V. dramatic! I think this would be great for a club night or an edgier evening event. You sort of remind me of how Kristin Stewart has looked at some of her recent events!

You're right. Some long curls would look cool. Thanks! I tried to twist the sides of hair on each side but its hard to tell in the picture, looks like I'll have something to entertain me once I get back from my weight watchers meeting

Thanks autumn!

The looking funny part made me chuckle. I have a hard time with bold colors, and always feel like it looks funny for the first 15-20 mins with new colors. I think part of it is getting used to the new look.

Here is a side shot of the hair....more volume on top would maybe look better too

hmmm.... volume...or slight curl just at the bottoms of the part you are putting up?

Agreed...otherwise it kinda looks like a mullet

I love the whole look!

I agree! And you TOTALLY look like Kristin Stewart, good call Circe. (She's the one from Eclipse, right?)

I love the look, and I agree that something more to amp up the view from the back would make it look even better.

I love the makeup! You're very pretty!

I really like your makeup. Good job!

To me, I like the idea of your hair and where you're going with it (your hair is beautiful btw), but in the photo you posted of the back, it looks like you put a little too much hair wax in it. Like, it looks a bit greased up in the middle part that is tousled. It may just be the way the photo looks.

Thanks guys!

And oh boy...wait till I tell my best friend who is obsessed with twilight what you guys said....she'll die haha.

I agree it looks clumped in the back---thanks hairspray!

I'm gonna add some curls to it and see what happens.

Thanks for the nice compliments again, I appreciate it!

I'm gonna thread jack my own thread---

So what if I replicate the hair (but fixed) and make-up and wear a long white sleeved shirt, brown belt, jeans, and brown boots?

I'm figuring since the hair and make-up is going to be a little bit drastic that I should keep the clothing simple...

Thoughts?

Gorgeous!!

I think you are beautiful, and your make up looks amazing. If you are going to use this look for photographs though, I'd put just a little more color on the lips. Sometimes, nude lipstick gets lost in pictures, especially if they're entire body shots.

I will definitely take that advice!

I really like the makeup.
