SLEEP. Sleep was what helped. I had it over finals week in Sophomore year of HS, and then again in College and sleeping was the best for me. Every time I get run down it kinda sneaks back up.Mayk|1358618033|3359664 said:So... I've heard rest and fluids and B12.. Doing all those.... About 8 days in and still very tired.
Completely open to ideas and suggestions.....please.....

I think it's this year's version of the flu. Our whole household had it; DD, DH and I. It started as a sore throat and it went to exhaustion/sleeping for three solid weeks. Four weeks for DH because his became pneumonia. We were just SOOOOO tired, slept most of the day, couldn't leave the house for even a short time. Towards the end, we'd go out for an hour, then come home exhausted. Luckily, DD kicked it first and she was able to bring food.
The only thing that helped was massive amounts of protein; chicken, fish, burgers. They provided a tiny bit of energy. Lots of Ramen for the scratchy throats. But SOOOO exhausted.
Maybe it's just the flu that we had. Do you have painful, swollen glands? If not, might not be mono. Our Dr said everyone in town had it, and it's the worst he's seen in years.

I got it when I was 31 - I accidentally drank out of the wrong glass at a party. Bit of advice, when in doubt, DON'T. But anyway, I had it for 6 weeks, 4 of which I was completely down. My world got very small indeed, and this was before the internet.
After the first 5 days or so, I woke to one day where I felt less awful, so I though, I'm getting better, and I NEED to get back to work, so I got ready and went in. My co-workers took one look at me and said, "Go home. Go home NOW." So I did, and when I took an unvarnished look in the mirror it was like OMG. Every lymph node on my head was swollen up. I looked like I had marbles all around the edges of my face and neck. Finally, the doctor - who had not properly diagnosed me at first and had given me antibiotics and booted me out the door - figured out that those weren't working (I knew it sooner and called the office to tell them that, but you know doctors' offices: they didn't believe me. I guess they think patients are all morons and don't know squat about their own bodies, but I digress) tested me and voila! Mono! I was never in the hospital, but I got an enlarged spleen - felt like a giant softball banging up against my ribs - and the soles of my hands and feet itched until I thought I'd go mad. Yeah, it was great fun.
After the 4 weeks of watching lots of TV, cross stitching, and reading (my only outings were to the bookstore to replenish books - I think I read 2 trilogies) I started to feel better. The doctor warned me that if I pushed too hard I would relapse. I pretty much pooh-poohed him to his face, and he said, "OK, do what you want, but I warned you." So off to work I went, feeling pretty good....until noon rolled around and it was like a giant had had slammed me to the ground. So I conceded defeat and took the doc's advice and only did the 1/2 day for 2 weeks. I'd go home at noon and sleep pretty much until the next day.
So, all that is to say that you will resolve it on your body's own schedule, so settle in and prepare to be patient and really really bored. It's the nature of the beast. And DO NOT push when you start feeling better, or you really WILL relapse.
I hope you get over it soon. Take care of yourself and be sure and eat well. That's about the best thing you can do. If you have someone who can cook for you, now is the time to call in the favor. Ramen and/or Campbells won't cut it...

A little stronger Skippy. I've ventured about the house twice today but after an hour or so I head back to bed to catch my breath. But today is better than Wednesday...they Saturday... I'm going to take all the advice and go easy. Working from home all week so I car rotate from my desk to bed.... The advantages of a hoe office. Thanks for asking!![]()

Nine days and I did get up for a couple hours this morning and moved around the house... Back in bed but I have to say I'm not feeling as exhausted as I have the past couple of days. But I do still have my sore throat. It seems to be here for the long haul.
