Hey folks,
Thanks for everyone''s interest in me; you''re all very sweet!
I''m not ignoring your individual posts; I tried responding yesterday and found that I had a hitch in my ability to reply. PS left me an email that I should try again today, so here I am.
bee* asked about travel: I love to immerse myself in the rhythms and cultures of other locales, but hate the process of travel. So it''s a mixed bag for me on travel. She also asked about books: love them, can''t live without them, and will never have enough bookshelves (or books). My favorite books are mysteries; also love biographies, especially former presidents, and anyone famous circa WWII. I''m not much of a celeb buff, but I love the books about the old Hollywood and its stars. (I''m also a huge fan of Turner Classic Movie channel.) And I seem to have a growing collection of travel essays, and cookbooks.
Growing up in Normal was different in my day than it would be today. I was lucky to be a child of the sixties and a teenager of the seventies. There was a small town feel to the place; kids were perfectly safe walking or riding bikes anywhere, doors were usually unlocked, and everyone knew their neighbors. My mom''s family had always lived in Bloomington/Normal, and so our Thanksgivings and Christmases were very ''Norman Rockwell''. I know; it''s so corny. We were blessed, truly; and we''ve never taken that for granted.![]()
We have franchises in Honda, Subaru, Suzuki, and Ford. We have owned, in the past, a Toyota franchise and an Oldsmobile/GMC franchise.Date: 11/3/2008 4:47:45 PM

Yay, Holly! Glad to see you posting in here!
As I'm a car nut, I'd love to know what kind of cars your dealership sells! Oh, and do you own the make for which your company distributes?

Holly--My father''s family owns Toyota dealerships. Never a dull moment at work for you, I bet! (I''m a renegade and bought a Honda, though. I love it! Hubby loves his Honda, too.)
I''m with you on traveling. What''s your favorite travel essay? I haven''t read many, but I''ve loved what I''ve read thus far.
I also adore old Hollywood, I have a particular thing for Audrey Hepburn, and I named our family dog Tallulah after Tallulah Bankhead. Any favorites?
Question time: If you had to name one belief that most drives the way you live your life, what would it be?
