Holiday Music Thread 2021

"Light of the Stable"
Selah (live)

the new ABBA Voyage album song Little Things. I’m obsessed with songs 1,2,3 and the last one.

I am not sure what you meant by "rude", Daisys and Diamonds. I do not think it would be courteous ever to mock someone else's religion (or desire not to have a religion). But between reverential and "rude" there is a lot of ground. I post both traditional music and a song called "The Season's Upon Us" by The Dropkick Murphys about how Christmas is celebrated by their family most years. It is hardly reverent, but it bears a certain resemblance to the reality of some Christmases.

i promise i would never intentioanlly mock some one elses religion
Actually i spent some time hanging out with the Buddists and they are wonderfuly tollerant

im a huge fan of both Pope Francis and the late St John Paul the great
Sometimes at Christmas i look around the decorations all over the place and wonder where are the holy family in all the lights and tinsle and baubles and sale signs?

i think religion is one of those taboo subjects on here so i better stop

But the song is harmless so long as no kids are in the room as Santa engaged in some rather adult activity that he may have forgotten to pay for
its a just a fun little rather naughty song that has never been released
but its light releaf from all the sugary pop that is often on the airways all Christmas these days
Bruce's dear mom probably wouldn't like it (poor thing has altzimers real bad now days) - she would often go to his shows and tell him off for swearing

Bruce Springsteen was raised in the Catholic church and he references faith and Cathloic imgagery in much of his catalogue
not at all in a dissrespectful way either
I'm pretty sure St Peter has a place reserved for him upstairs (but not for many many years from now)

please excuse my spelling

now have i posted this already this year ?
i just have no desire to ever shiver in the snow on Christmas day

im trying really hard to make a big effort to get into the Christmas spirit this year
im usually really ho hum
especially toward Christmas music
when you work in a shop one dreads Christmas
but my Bruce friend Marsha from NJ passed away this year and she loved Christmas so much, (as only a little Jewish girl who converted to Christiananaty can} and she loved the snow and her fireplace and that movie with the silver bells that Americans love that i cant remember the name off because ive never seen it
she loved every last moment of Christmas

so i send this summer christmas song out into the ether for you dear Marsha

ill go now and leave you all in peace (till tomorrow :lol-2: )
best Christmas song ever

Bruce Springsteen has never shied away from telling us how much he loves his mom
this is about

I’m obsessed with this song. Playing it all day lol

Prior to Covid, I would try to catch Darlene Love's Christmas tour.

My husband took me to see her show just before Covid hit! She’s wonderful.

got soooooooooo excited to actually hear this on the radio at work i almost charged someone $450 for a pie :lol-2:

A holiday tradition.
We used to attend this performance every holiday season.
Not since Covid but hopefully one year soon we can restart one of our favorite holiday traditions.

the RNZB were surposed to be performing this here in Wanganui while on tour this time last year but it got postponed due to covid
i completly forgot till now :cry2:

I love this piece. A Christmas classic.

I just love this one! Light of the Stable by EmmyLou Harris.

I just found this version of "Jesus Christ The Apple Tree" this year. If you listen to it, be sure not to miss the ending.

*The song is often attributed to Elizabeth Poston, but people have suggested that the tune is far older, maybe a Shaker song. The words derive from the Bible.

I never heard that one before, Sharon. Thanks for sharing. I have to go look up what the five golden things they are saying are because I can't make them out!

Edited to add: The word is: toques.
