My cake will consist of: one tier with milk chocolate ganache filling, another tier with hazelnut cake and hazelnut Italian buttercream, and the other tier of spice cake probably with cream cheese frosting. All of them will be encased in vanilla Italian buttercream. My favorite is hazelnut, FF''s favorite is spice cake, and I think that the yellow cake/milk choc is a good compromise for people who don''t want the other flavors. I would love to have a croquembouche, and creme brulee, but that might be overkill. Especially because I don''t want more than 50 guests.

Did I mention that I''ll be making the whole thing myself?

I hear ya miracles...I totally get where you''re coming from.

Nooooooooooooooooo, my daughter was not upset that I didn''t go to the tasting. Not at all. Actually, she prefer that I be at the gym.

She knows that working out is my only form of stress relief, because homicide is a crime.
And if I was locked up, I would miss the wedding.

Besides, I have to give her away. That sounds so awful. Like charity or something. Give her away...
Ummm, more like paying a small fortune to assure myself a grandchild.

It was hyperbole...I have a wicked twisted sense of humor...so I understand that not everyone gets me. I would never choke her. All eggs are in one basket...so to speak.

But I do love all of you on this board. You make this craziness bearable.

With your situation, I think it is good that you vent like in this thread. Wedding planning is not everyone's thing and can be more difficult especially if people are too serious or not serious enough

. I know daughters can be especially tricky, not because I have one, but because I am one. Just please don't tell your daughter you want to strangle her whether you are joking or not... and I hope things work out for both of you

Love in Bloom: Love that name, by the way....

I would never really choke her. But I''ve been telling her that, ever since she started taking my makeup or y favorite dress.

Just look at us...do we look like we could strangle each other....

Holy crap, you look like sisters!

Seriously. I had to look twice-and closely-to tell which one was you!

You''re both gorgeous BTW!!!

Well, among other things, my daughter talked me into....*choke* dying my hair dark so I would look more like her mother at the wedding. This was the last picture of me as a blonde, right before the Chargers choked earlier this year.

Okay, truth is she also thought that it would help me attract more worthy men. But people still think we are sisters. Good genes I guess...oh And working out on Saturdays instead of eating cake for breakfast.

Holy crap, me too! (in reference to FC's post)

I totally get that you wouldn't really strangle your child (ala Homer and Bart simpson? haha!). How bittersweet is it that you will give your daughter away? My mom gave me away too. Both parents walked me down the aisle, but my dad didn't want to give me away so I gave him the position of "Man of Honor." He stood up next to me and he was the BEST! Anyway, as long as you are sure your daughter is not upset because you did not attend the cake tasting, there shouldn't be a problem. I think risingsun and I just saw the potential for hurt feelings there

I "got" the humor in your post, miracles. I also think those cake flavors sound yummy, as long as they''re served separately! I ''m sure my mother had a similar reaction to some of my wedding choices, but if she did, she was wise enough to vent elsewhere like you are and not blow it up into a battle with me. I was actually pleasantly surprised at how much we agreed on. Anyway, seems like you two have a pretty good relationship, and are a lot of fun to boot, so good on ya! When''s the wedding?

D-day=July 25, 2008.

Thanks for the support. We have little mini battles, but never a war. Well, that''s not so true. Weddings have a way of bringing out the thorns before the bloom. Eh, I''ve learned that it is not uncommon. But I never did have a point of reference before this all began. It''s getting better as we go... Venting is healthy. Holding it in leads to ulcers and/or anti-depressants, both of which I prefer NOT to have.

ditto! Seriously, I had to look a couple of times before I figured it out!

hahaha, miracles, it''s nice to know i''m not the only one who threatens people on a regular basis. inherited that fair and square from my mom, so it''s fine to think about choking your daughter on occasion as long as you don''t follow through. my mother used to tell me she''d yank my leg off and beat me with the bloody end when i was driving her crazy, so it could always be worse! i''m surprised at how many people on here had such a strong reaction to your not attending a cake tasting. it seems to me like you''ve contributed a lot to her wedding already, so you missing one appointment just doesn''t seem like a big deal to me. mother of the bride or not, it isn''t your job to completely put your life on hold in the name of cake, even if it is cake for a wedding! as for the pineapple cake, would the venue be willing to me a cake that''s not on their menu if you gave them a recipe? some places will do that, so it may be worth asking. good luck with the wedding planning; you and your daughter are both lovely!

HI:

What a shame no one toolk the time to answer that all important question you posed in your first post, so let me do so now. No, it is never TOO early to drink.

Ha ha - that pretty much sums it up for me! I love your approach to life - we need more characters like you in this world and I will continue to enjoy reading your posts even though I am a terrible poster myself ;)

I would totally repost in blue what canuk-gal aka Sharon said, but I don''t know how.

man, that''s another one! i should''ve trademarked all my mom''s nutty sayings because every time i repeat one, someone adopts it. i could be getting royalties (or pain and suffering, depending on how you view it, haha). suffice it to say my mother''s a creative one! glad i could entertain.
