Not being that familiar with HOF or any of the other top cuts (i.e. ACA) my question is whether HOF diamonds have their own "look". If so, what aspect of the cutting and polishing process are HOF manipulating to achieve their desired look and how does it differ from say what Whiteflash does with the ACA? My question is that if HOF has a particular look there must be something in the process they are doing to achieve that or is it incorrect to think that someone could distinguish a HOF from an ACA just by looking?

No they don't. They are just superideal diamonds and you can get better value for your $ by going with an ACA. Both are superideal cuts and I am sure no one could tell the difference unless you showed them the pricetag.

Yep, I even compared my non ACA (ideal cut) to a HOF and couldn''t see a difference until I looked under my idealscope.

HOFs don''t have their own look compared to other top-make stones, but they do look much different when compared to the average make stones sold in most chain jewelry stores, and that''s what they are usually compared to.

If you purchase a truly well cut stone you will not be able to tell the difference with the naked eye. Save yourself some $$ and purchase a really well cut stone. THen while in the return period take it with you to compare your ring/stone to a HOF dealer near you - then smile knowing how much $$$ you saved.

Tunis,

If you look at some of my first posts I posed that same question to the board and was steered towards a WF ACA stone. Having just received it just over a week ago I can tell you without a doubt I could not be more pleased with what i received! Upon receiving it last weekend I feel safe in saying she felt the same way. More ring - less expensive too. Search my posts in "SMTR" if you want to see pics.
