I was looking at HOF diamonds at a mall store this past week. The sales guy said they are "super ideal". He had one of those hearts and arrows viewer and asked to look at my stone. Mine is not exactly ideal cut, but he was suprised to see what he called "good arrows". Mine does score well on HCA (1.2) but is a cut class 2A according to AGS. My question is, does a true hearts and arrows like an HOF necessarily outperform all others? Is it worth the premium?

I have another ? too if someone wouldn't mind answering---- IS a HOF a hearts and arrows, or is it something more than that?

NO, IMO, HOF are not worth the premium! I went into a HOF dealer a month or two ago with my husband expecting to be blown away by these premium diamonds, but honestly, after seeing them in person, I was a bit disappointed. They're gorgeous, of course, but nothing more brilliant/fiery than the near H&A diamond I have (which was also seen by a jeweler to have "good arrows") and I'd NEVER pay the premium for a stone that doesn't offer any more than what many online vendors can provide for less money.

HOF are nothing more than H&A with a premium branding attached to the stone priced astronomically.

HOF is just a branded Hearts and Arrows cut diamond. Is it much better than other unbranded Hearts and Arrows diamonds? I don't think so. Especially if you factor in the premium of a HOF diamond. There are a good number of places where you can get unbranded Hearts and Arrows diamonds which will have the same fire and brilliance of a HOF or other branded Hearts and Arrows diamonds. I bought my girl an unbranded Hearts and Arrows diamond. I have gone back to a place local to me which sells HOF diamonds, and I can't tell the difference compared to the HOF but I sure can tell the price difference. Don't get me wrong,I do think HOF diamonds are very beautiful, but it's very hard to see much of difference.
