A new candidate billing himself as the "Trump alternative" will just split Republican the vote in two.
He will take desparately-needed votes away from Trump.

That means the new candidate is just increasing of Clinton's margin of lead ... and she's already favored to win, and not by a hair.
Ideally, they will tie in Nov, maximizing Clinton's margin.
