Opinions on this stone? I haven''t seen it yet, so that will be the final test. But I wondered what the many experts here would think. Is it a good deal? What are the possible weaknesses I should be concerned with on this stone?

PRINCESS CUT
1.72 carat
Color: F
Clarity: SI1 (I''m told it''s eye clean)
6.34L x 6.61 W
Depth: 73.0%
Table: 66.4%
Crown Ht: 13.7%
Crown Angle: 41.5
Pavilion Angle: 57.4
Pavilion Depth: 54%
Girdle: Medium to Very Thick
Girdle Thickness: 5%
Culet: None
Polish/Symmetry: Good/Good
COST: $9400

*** Also, on the GIA certificate, there is a comment that says "Additional clouds are not shown." What does this mean? Does that mean there are additional clarity issues not reflected in the SI1 rating?

Thanks in advance for your input!

The steeper crown height certainly shows promise, most princess cut diamonds are cut so shallow on the crown...

Additional clouds not shown merely refers to the presence of small groups of pinpoint size diamond crystals that are present within the diamond, but not indicated on the plotting diagram because they're probably so small that they can not be readily located using a standard 10x diamond grading loupe. No big deal. Just a little diamond within the diamond if you will...

Thank You so much for the input!

Is the girdle thickness anything to be worried about? Sarin details it at 5%. On the GIA cert, it says "Medium to Very Thick", but some other places I've researched show that 5% is more of a "Medium to Thick." What are the implications of having a girdle that is thicker than average? Is it enough reason for me to bypass the stone?

Also, Do you think $9400 for this stone is a good deal, an OK deal, or a "you can do better for that price" kind of deal?

Thanks again. This is my 2nd time getting close to buying on a stone. I'm hoping to get that "this is it" feeling when I see this one.

The stone 'sounds' (since we've got numbers here, not the stone) nice. The one area of improvement would be the depth (kind of deep) and obviously the rather thick girdle is mostly to blame here. A 68%-70% deep stone would be a tad bigegr for the same weight. Otherwise, except for the optimistic prognosys already in place, not much one can say about the optics of a princess without the stone in hand(or some etst done on it, I guess).

All is all - the detraction mentioned is slight: this one has great chances to be exceptionally fiery, and I would take a look

not pass.
