Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could point me to a discussion (book, article, and/or website) of the history of color, clarity and cut grading for diamonds? I''m trying to find out answers to questions like these:
1. When did the now-standard color and clarity grading system start? When did it become standard?
2. When did the major gem labs begin grading and issuing reports? How quickly did it become standard with diamonds in retail trade?
3. When did various bits of information make it to the major gem labs reports? Did GIA always include Table and Depth? Symmetry and polish? Did AGS always grade cut?
4. What about the GIA cut quality research over the last several years? Can anybody point me to a good discussion of what has been going on there?
I have lots more, but I''m sure you can get an idea of the sort of information I''m looking for. I''d really appreciate any help.
Thanks.
