I got Montou when he was a kitten, and now he's 8 months old. Time goes by so fast!!! He's well behaved and loving, but he was so busy when he was growing ( and also when his manhood was growing too )... He's sweet and I adore him...
Oh... He's ALWAYS hungry!!!

I am actually not at home right now, so I don't have much time... so I will do a fly-by now and write more later!
I only skimmed some of Maisie's post but in that quick skim, I found several things that (in my experience with 2 Raggies) I absolutely disagree with! It is my humble opinion that these cats are some the EASIEST MAINTENANCE animals (physically and personality-wise) ever! Actually, I think I have seen that article about several breeds of cats and even just for "cats" in general. A lot of the traits and other stuff mentioned are just common to most cats! Anyway, I ADORE my Raggies, and wholeheartedly recommend them without reservation!
So... how far are you from Raleigh, NC? That's where I got Bentley (http://megaileeragdolls.tripod.com). Boo's breeder was in Pittsburgh but she's no longer breeding. Besides Raleigh, I know personally of reputable, reliable breeders in the Boston Mass area, Deltona FL, southern CA and northern CA, Ontario Canada, and Vancouver Canada. Do you have any friends or family in any of those areas that you could time a nice visit around???!!![]()
I'm sure there are LOTS of other reputable Ragdoll breeders, too... but like finding any good breeder, you gotta do some homework.
You can start by posting on www.ragdollcentral.com that you are looking for a kitten and the area where you live. You can also google breeders by state.
Oh, this is sooooooooooo exciting! Our two furballs bring us SO MUCH joy and happiness! I am delighted that you are considering a Raggie. I don't know ANYONE who has ever been sorry! Really!!!
Let me know if you have any other questions or if you want to discuss anything else in particular, and when I get home I will check back in! Oh, I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE talkin' 'bout m' boys!!!![]()

risingsun said:Thank you so much for getting back to me. I also answered you in my other thread. After going around and around with this, we may stay with our original breed, the Maine Coon Cat. I must tell you that Ragdolls have been high on our list. We have had MCC in our family for over 21 years. You know what it's like that they snuggle their way into your heart. I will certainly look into the information that you posted for me. We live in Virginia. I should ask Gailey to take a look in Vancouver for mePlease look at my post to you on my other thread. Oh...I'm looking for a female. I can no longer left a 20+ lb cat over my shoulder

He's laid back for the most part... and he doesn't jump on counters, at least when I am there. I am sure when the door shuts behind me, it's a wild zone lol...
As fas as grooming, I brush him a couple times a week. I do trim the extra hair between the bottom of his pads as he tracks litter when he exits the box. I also trim the hair around his anal area... No one likes to look at dingleberries lol.
He doesn't loose that much hair, but I'll have to see how he is in the fall season, he is finally growing his more adult coat, his collar area is getting fuller. He doesn't loooooove to be brushed but to get his nails clipped, he's a dream. he doesn't fit me and he gets treats at the end, so it's a win-win![]()

I wish that people could be evaluated before being permitted to have a pet. When I think of all the caring people on PS who would do anything and everything for their furkids, it makes me so angry. I had a client assigned to me who told me about abusing his pets. I asked that he be referred to another therapist. My limits of tolerance are generally quite broad and flexible, but I do have my limits.
Preach it, ome! I'm right there with you.omieluv said:risingsun said:SanDiegoLady said:I saw a ragdoll at our shelter here.. it couldn't have been anything else given the markings. She was gorgeous. What's wrong with people?!

SDL - Omie was given up to the shelter because she was given to a family member as a "gift," but the recipient said that Omie was too old (she was 6 months old at the time). That is a rather lame reason, but it further illustrates why it is a bad idea to give pets as gifts, if the person is not expecting it.
ringsun - People should also be evaluated before being able to have children too!
