Hi,

I''ve done a lot of reading on these boards and learned a lot. I was initially just going to buy an expensive ring from Tiffany, but thankfully I found this site, so already thanks for that.

Anyway..... I decided to go with a Heart and Arrows Diamond. I just felt comfortable with that choice. I am down to two diamonds.

I think ring 1 looks like the better diamond to me at least, but I think that extra .1 carats may make a difference, and this is where I really might need help. Ring size is 5. Do you think the difference between these two diamonds will be noticeable enough on that ring size.

Any other Tips or Advice I would appreciate. Looking to buy fairly soon.

Hi there,
These are both beautiful diamonds, you can''t go wrong. Either one is a good choice, I''m not sure which I would pick. Some are pickier with numbers, so I''m sure someone will chime in with a preference though.

However, I did want to mention size/value info. I see that both of these stones are G/VS1 and you wanted to know whether there is a noticeable size difference between the two. I think the size difference would be noticeable when comparing the two diamonds, and less so comparing them alone. You could easily drop down to a VS2 or SI1 in clarity and still have a perfectly eye-clean rock and either save money or go bigger! Also, you can drop down to at least an H and not see any warmth, and depending on how color sensitive you are maybe lower. Dropping down to a H/SI1 you could afford a rock for 10k that is 1.3 or slightly bigger. Also, many of their expert selection diamonds are a great value and still cut very well and slightly cheaper. One problem with this strategy is that there isn''t a huge inventory of H/SI 1.2-1.4 stones, everybody wants them.

These are greater choices, they will be beautiful. Great job!!

Going by the numbers my preference is the second diamond, but either would be a great choice. The second might look slightly larger comparing side by side, and less comparing alone as Koursie says. I don't think you could go wrong with either, great job choosing! But as to the final choice, if you would prefer the larger one, then that is the right choice. " Mental" carat weight can make quite a difference I have found! What a nice dilemma!

Pics please when you decide and have the ring!

you should be able to tell if you put the stones next to each other that #2 is bigger with a diameter difference of .17mm. Price per carat is lower for the first stone. However, I would not pick either of these. You should definitely drop to a VS2. There is no difference between a vs1 and a vs2 in that carat range. With a G VS2, you can either save a couple of bucks or get a slightly bigger stone. There are ton to choose from on whiteflash so I'm not gonna list them all. Don't forget the PS discount on these guys! Just check with WF that they are eye clean, which they should be in a VS2 of that range. 7mm is great for a size 5. You will be quite happy

Those diamonds are good suggestions carebear, a vs2 should be very clean mentally and with your eyes.

I would recommend speaking to Brian Gavin at WF. You can set an appointment where he will discuss stones with you. However, he will not pick one for you. You must decide if you like more fire, brilliance etc. and ask him to identify those traits for you. I have found that ideal stones will have small visual differences. Brian will tell you both stones are great because they are both ACA, his top picks. But he may (or may not) be able to describe some visual differences if they exist. If he tells you they are the same, then go with the bigger bang for your buck.

Why ever not??? Because they are VS1? Some prefer a higher clarity.
