). I hope you join in lots.

Welcome Chemgirl!

hello chemgirl!

Thank you TooPatient!

Thanks girls for the welcome!

Now that everybody''s seen the worst part of my relationship, I''d like to tell you about how we decided we liked each other!

We were at a conference in Montreal last fall. Montreal is one of Canada''s "party cities" and we usually spend more time out clubbing than we do at conference events. I''m realy not a big partier or drinker, so I''m really out of my element at that sort of thing. There are also very few girls at these events, so we end up with a lot of free drinks. Anyway, at one point in the evening a really really really creepy guy (he had a chocolate replica of his...um boy parts) wouldn''t leave my friend alone. He was really getting in her face and touching her. It wasn''t cool, so my boyfriend stepped in and talked the guy in to going away. Then he went and told the bouncer so he''d keep an eye on the guy. After that we started talking and it became clear that I''d had too much to drink. He checked to make sure my friend was with people she knew, and he offered to take me out for some food and coffee. We had a great time talking until about 3:00 am and he walked me back to my hotel. Everything was fine until I got back and realized that A) my friend wasn''t back yet and B) I lost a glove. I was really worried about my friend and she wasn''t answering her cell. Everyone I could get in touch with had already gone back to their hotels and thought she had left with me. I started freaking out that she had been left alone and the creepy guy had come back! My boyfriend tried to calm me down and then went to look for her. He found her at a coffee shop down the street from the bar with a few conference people. He waited with her until she was ready to leave and then walked her back to our hotel.

The next morning he showed up late for the conference with a pair of those wool mittens on a string (you know the ones that five year olds wear so they don''t lose one?). He went back to the bar to see if they had my glove and they didn''t. He thought the string ones were hilarious, plus I''d never lose them again.

It didn''t really take much time for us to start dating after that!

That is so sweet!

He sounds like a good friend who really cares about you (and has a great sense of humor -- love the mittens on a string

Actually this got me thinking! We haven''t been dating for 8 months. The conference was in September (Montreal is cold at night and I''m a wimp). So I guess its been more like 7 months.
