Hey all,

I am about 2 weeks away from popping the question, and have a ring all picked out ready to buy. Then I found this forum. I''ve been trying to make a smart choice and here''s what I''ve come up with: http://www.adiamor.com/D-9789237.htm

Two questions:
1) Decent stone?
2) Decent retailer?

I haven''t seen much about these guys other than a friend of mine said he was very pleased. I wanted to get the majority''s opinion before dropped my tuition money for next year :)

Thanks!

Ask if they have a pricescope discount on top of the 1.5% wire transfer discount.

Also, don''t forget to search from the main page: www.pricescope.com

good luck with your search!

Adiamor is a drop shipper...
They don't own the diamond and likely wouldn't ever see it before sending it to you.
There are many vendors can get these types of stones in house, they are called "virtual" stones.

I enjoy a different level of service which includes more evaluative tools.
Complete Date, Like Sarin and being able to view Optical Symmetry are important to me.

As for their reputation, I have read positive comments on the forum...

Personally I think their idea of branding has nothing to do with setting quality control.
I looked and they have 3268 diamonds in their "Affinity" collection.
I don't think they've scrutinized "their" stones.

I would call a few stones in, communicate your wants to a reputable appraiser or vendor and have them looked
at to meet your criteria.

What kind of stone are you looking for?

I hear you CGN. I''ll be honest I''m not sure what I''m looking for. Need something shiny to put on the ring, I am trying to make sure I don''t go beyond my budget but at the same time not skimp (currently paying for law school).

In my few hours here I saw both Brian Gavindi and Union Diamonds mentioned. I liked briangavindiamonds.com but didn''t see any of his H&A selection in what I''m looking for (but I definitely like the idea of having someone tell me how the stone looks). Maybe he would on his select diamonds? I also looked at Union Diamonds, but honestly did not find any of the setting attractive. (This is the style she wants: http://www.adiamor.com/R-1009-R2748-1.htm)

I feel like a VS2 - G is a good price/quality point. I know what you mean about their ''affinity'' cut. I was at a local retailer in the area and could definitely see the difference in this one he had with a GCAL analysis and another w/o, but graded at the same level. The ''brilliance'' was markedly different. At the same time though, I thought the risk might be worth it buying online and saving 2K.

Since you mentioned BGD I'd prefer this one: http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamond/diamond-detail/?product_id=AGS-10237009 I'd call to see if it's completely eye clean ( It's an SI, but a VS2 can still have eye visible inclusions and a drop shipper won't be able to tell you). The price is great. Color is on the money.

As for a setting. The setting you chose is very classic. Knife edge double row pave half eternity. And it has a peg head. I'd bet you could find an adwar, Unique Setting of NY, Stuller or Ingwer setting that is identical. And then any jeweler could get one in for you. http://www.uniquesettings.com/product/view/19154 for example.

I would get the best cut stone for your money and you will save money at the same time too...

Top 3 I would go with in no particular order:

(1) Brian Gavin Diamonds (Have purchased from him before)
(2) Good Old Gold (Purchased my wifes engagement diamond from him)
(3) Take a look at the Crafted By Infinity Line (Paul-Antwerp)

G/VS2 is a good Price Point. Like mentioned you could stretch it to a si-1.

I have an 1.25 carat si-1 that is eye clean, You can't spot it...

Many times if you contact a vendor (Brian Gavin you mentioned) they could be currently in the process of
cutting material which fits your criteria.

I would personally seriously consider the stone GYPSY found on his sight.

Brian Gavin also custom fits your needs by making rings too. I like the sleek elegant design with pave on the link you
attatched. That stone in that particular plantinum setting would be killer.
Let us know what your going to do!

Ditto what Josh (colored gemstone nut) said in his post about contacting the vendors to see what they have in stock and what they might have on the way that will meet your needs.

I worked with Wink at High Performance Diamonds when I bought my Infinity diamond Wink''s site

I liked working with Wink and Crafted by Infinity Diamonds so much, that I''ve used their upgrade policy a few times

so I guess you could say I''m a satisfied customer!

With a well-cut diamond from any of the vendors mentioned above, you can feel safe in looking at "lower" colors and clarities. The vendors are very good at giving you their honest assessment of the inclusions in the diamond, so you will get great value for your money.

Here's a 1.02 H SI2 Infinity. It could be eye-clean -- check with Wink.
1.02 H SI2

And here's another one that Wink has a video for:
1.03 H SI2
