i am going to new york soon with my fiance for business. and we''ll be looking around for diamonds and i stumbled across leon mege in the forum. i have to say, the rings are out of this world, beautiful, unique, outstanding. its really everything i want- the antiquish modern feel. however, i have been reading some posts which are making me question whether or not to go there. i have read that he''s rude and people''s diamonds have fallen out and that people''s settings have been wrecked which makes me think they are cheaply made. i looked on his website and it says he over sees the craftmanship which makes me think the people making these settings and putting in the stones aren''t qualified to do so. i really think he would have the design and skill to the ring i want though.

anyone have an opinion? i''m clueless and at the same time a bit saddened to hear the guy that could create my ring has created rings with problems.

i definately don''t want my ring to fall apart or the stones to come out no matter what environmental circumstance or fall or anything/

He just finished a ring for me, it''s a RHR. I''m getting pics tomorrow. I can say he was a joy to work with. Very pleasant, and answered any questions that I had. So his rep for being rude, didn''t hold true for me. I didn''t meet with him, did everthing over the phone and by email. Good luck!!! There are many satisfied Leon customers here. I''m sure they will chime in as well.

Every designer/vendor has problems from time to time and this forum is great b/c you can find examples easily of the good and bad of each company. however, Leon''s *good* far outweighs his negatives. I would not hesitate for one minute to do a project with him. One thing to consider is that he is a master artist and has the master artist temporment. If you are overly picky, want a lot of hands on, like to see a wax etc, he may not be a good match. But if you see something you like on his site or want to combine aspects of several of his rings and then let him do his thing, I''d say go for it. i would love to have a Leon ring someday...

My husband and I met with Leon in person a few weeks ago after several long distance phone conversations. He’s VERY easy to work with and down to earth. Seeing his work in person just blew me away – it’s incredible!!! Good Luck!

I think any ring on earth can be damaged or lose stones given certain unfortunate circumstances.

I seriously believe you would have a very hard time finding any manufacturer who does better work than Leon Mege...

I''ve yet to see a poorly made Leon Mege ring. All the ones I''ve seen have been masterpieces.

Leon is currently working on my ring right now. I went to New York to meet with him and he could not have been any nicer. He spent a lot of time with me and I never felt rushed and I was really impressed with his knowledge. I fell in love with a certain style of his but I was also considering doing a halo. Leon really studied my stone and gave me his opinion on what he thought would look best(no halo)- but never pushed anything on me. In response to stones falling out, Leon pretty much told me that with really delicate pave it is going to happen no matter who makes your ring. Replacing a pave stone is no problem. He also told me that if you choose to do 3 sided pave you should not wear a wedding band next to it because they will rub against one another.

Best of luck with your decision. Hopefully I''ll have my ring soon (and it looks good) and I can post some pictures of his work!

okay, so its sturdy?

If you are referring to allycat''s ring with the diamonds falling out...the problems started when the ring was re-sized, and this could have easily moved things around too much. Leon''s pieces are works of art, each and every one of them. All of them show superior craftsmanship. I cannot speak about his attitude because I''ve never worked with him personally.
