It's a Vera Wang that I got for 60% off. It still needs a lot of work and I am not sure what to do with those hanging straps. I am thinking cap sleeves or removing completely. Thoughts?

Here it is.

What a pretty dress! It looks great on you, and I love how floaty and soft the material looks. 60% off- what a steal!

very stunning! I would say take them off - unless you are a cap sleeve kind of gal. you could probably find a way to work the material into an updo, your bouquet, or more!

That''s pretty.
Out of curiosity, how are the straps supposed to be worn? I can''t visualize how it was intended to use them because they are so long. Tie them behind your neck and let them drape down??

Beautiful!

I''m guessing halter then they drape down. Seems like it would fit with the drapey flowy dress style. Do you not want that?

It''s very pretty! I wonder what it would look like as a halter? Or do you just not like that idea? Either way, I think it''s gorgeous!

That is a gorgeous dress and looks great on you! Congrats on the beautiful gown and great deal!

You could make them into removable cap sleeves that you could remove during the reception or if you decide not wear etc.

Oops I missed your question..I think cap sleeves would be great!

Thanks, everyone! I guess I will try a bunch of ways and take pics to determine which is best.

What is your wedding like? If it''s tropical or anything like that... I think it would look awesome if the straps were moved to the middle of the neckline, then tied around your neck. With the ends trailing down your back.

your dress is AMAZING!! congratulations!! i would take the straps off unless they look good tied halter. otherwise -- it''s perfect!!!

Looks beautiful - I like Gypsys idea of having the straps sewn center going straight up around the neck....

or you could remove the straps and create an elegant waist sash to really cinch you in.

beautiful dress, though. And great $avings!!!

It looks to me as if they should be pulled up, and tied at the back of the neck halter style. Just follow your tan lines...the excess fabric flowing down your back would look lovely. JMHO.

Oooh... I looove Vera Wang! Gorgeous dress!! And what a great deal!

Beautifull dress!

In regards to the straps, i''ve seen a beautiful dress with sheerish straps that go over your shoulder like straight straps which then meet together at the base of your back and tie into a pretty bow of pretty full sheerness :)

I can''t remember where I saw the pic of the dress that I am trying to describe, although I only came across it the other day, so I''ve made a TERRIBLE rendition of it in paint! Hope you get the idea!

Great ideas, thanks! My wedding is an evening wedding in NYC overlooking the Statue of Liberty. So not quite beachy, but I don''t want it too formal either.

It''s a beautiful dress. I think that it would look great as a halter neck.

I don''t have anything more to add, I think halter or cap sleeves would look nice. I just wanted to say that your dress is beautiful, and what a bargain!

I am in love with your dress! I agree with the halter idea. Either that, or I might remove them. Can''t wait to see what you come up with!
