So I'm looking for a cushion brilliant and i found two complete sets i like a lot. Both rings have the same setting but different diamonds. the first is an I Color VS1 GIA certified 1.05 ct and is priced at $8545. The second is an I color VVS1 GIA certified 0.8 ct going for $6229. I love the Henri Daussi setting although it is quite pricey. And i think i am getting a better deal on the the smaller stone and feel like i should be paying at least $1000 less on the 1.05 ct. But i'm new to diamonds and would very much appreciate any input.

I want the best deal and i am willing to buy a stone seperate if anyone has any pointers on the benefits of choosing certain color and clarity etc. ANd if i'm paying too much for clarity and i should focus more on size and color. I'm really trying to figure out how to prioritize the clarity, color, and cut to my liking in regards to cushion cuts. Not sure what i like yet but would like to know what others look for.

Also the 1.05 has a lower L/W Ratio

I am very very new (VVN1...sorry corny) to the diamond scene but i have learned so much from this site.

Thank you for any help and i will let you know how it goes!

here come the pics first pic is the 1.05 ct

I just found out that the diamonds may be Daussi Cushion (TM). So Maybe his exclusive cut adds to the value.

I'll let you know when I find out.

The prices don''t sound all that bad to me. My 1.05 ct. diamond alone was only $1,700 less that the 1.05 ct. you are looking at, so at $8545 for the complete ring, it sounds like a good deal. Compare it to this Daniel K halo in the closeout section of Pearlman''s priced at $13,190 for a 1.09 ct. center. http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/jewelry-specials/closeout-jewelry/rings/201CO1/32/

Disregarding price, I like the looks of the .80 ct. just because I like enlongated cushions.

thank you very much for your input...i do kind of like the looks of the .80 better too...especially for this setting.

And i just found out that these rings came in as complete sets from Henri Daussi so they should be the Daussi Cushions. they look like a slightly modified old mine cut. I like them :)

Hopefully when she tries them on the .80 will look big enough. and she wont mind not having 1 ct minimum

A halo style like that will make that diamond look huge! No worries there. It should be a stunning ring in real life. The cut looks great.

any other general opinions on the ring?

hot or not? First time i''ve ever picked out jewelry and i need to impress!

HI:

VVN1=brilliant!!! Full points for that one! LOL

The ring you posted looks wonderful--does your GF like this style of ring? Has she tried many styles of ring and shapes of stones, on?

I see the DK cushion has already been posted, but I saw this asscher by DK on the same site--larger stone and different setting, but interesting nonetheless....

this particular DK is with a round stone which are priced differenty. pearlmans does have one with a cushion but it''s a lot more money. also, even in closeout Daniel K still carries a bit of designer premium.

I agree though if you love the daussi stone and setting the price seems fair.

I know, that is why I think the Daussi is a good price. For a set diamond with a designer label, sounds good to me. I love all the Daniel K''s but they are way out of my price range, even in the closeout section. Didn''t you just get one of those? LUCKY!

I prefer the l:W ration and the overall look at the smaller stone.

thank you all for you''re comments

i showed her the pics and she is hooked! we are going to try it on tommorow.

the pictures don''t even do it justice...the halo is very fiery
