I''m looking to purchase this 18k setting from Helzberg for a 20 year anniversary and then shop around for the center stone. It retails for $ 3499 and has 6 diamonds total carat weight of 1 carat (3 channel set round diamonds on each side). They are not willing to move on price but have offered to throw in plat prongs - I''m not sure what the value of that throw in amounts to. It''s a very heavy, solid ring and has to be special ordered. I can not locate this very ring in any other store I''ve shopped however Jarred does carry a 3/4 carat for $1699. I guess I''m just looking for advice or opinions on what other people think on the value of this ring. The side stones are very clean as I have seen the ring in person when they did have it in the case. In case the picture did not download properly - the item # is 1611651 - Caroline. Keep in mind the item on their website is the 3/4 carat and I''m looking to order the larger version of this ring - not only are the diamonds bigger - the ring itself is bigger. Thanks for your advice. I''ve very much enjoyed reading all of your posts on this website - I have learned alot about diamonds in general.

My first thought was WAY overpriced. I think you would be better off in both quality and price to contact someone who could do a custom ring of similar design.

Brian Gavin Diamonds would be a good place to start. www.brianthecutter.com

They do awesome work and would be able to do both a setting you would love and set it with one of Brian's Signature H&A diamonds. Just send them an e-mail about what you want and Lesley will get right back with you.

I agree that they are taking you to the cleaners with that price. I would recommend either Quest Jewelers in Fairfax, VA or Whiteflash.com to make you a custom version of that setting. I bet you would get a much more reasonable quote from one of those jewelers, and they both do excellent custom work.

I kinda figured that but I do have a 1ct anniversary band for a trade in worth $1400 that I never wear that will help bring the price down if we decide to purchase. Having something made is something I haven''t thought much about so thanks for the tip. I''m headed out to shop today to look at other rings to do some comparisons. Please feel free to still comment on my post.

Stacey, just so that you know if you shop for a high quality (great cut) center stone you will see the difference in quality between the center and the sidestones. My diamond wedding band is from Littman''s and next to my JA ring I can tell the difference in quality of the stones. The diamonds in my band look "blah" next to my ering. Just something to consider.

Way overpriced! I also found a ring at Helgberg (on line) that I liked and they wanted $1800 for it (white gold with
about .33 ctw diamonds). I have no idea why they would think that that ring was worth so much.

Talk to BGD or whiteflash and have it made.

Edit - you may be giving away your $1400 ring for no reason if BGD or Whiteflash can do it for a lot less than helgberg.
