i just found out that engagementringsdirect.com has the lowest price for diamond engagement rings. i always thought bluenile has the lowest price. i guess engagementringsdirect has a much better deal. but i wonder if the site is reliable. because i''ve asked many of my married friends. none of them ever heard of it. anyone ordered rings from that site?

I think some folks here have ordered from engagementringsdirect.com; do a search to look up people''s experiences with them. You might also want to check whiteflash.com, goodoldgold.com and jamesallen.com as well. They have an excellent reputation.

I didn''t know about any of these sites before finding Pricescope; I don''t think online jewelry stores get talked about often because it''s my understanding that the average consumer is too afraid to buy something like a diamond from an online vendor. [It is also worth noting that some online vendors have brick and mortar (B&M) stores, as well as online stores.] As long as you do your homework, you can get a great deal on a stone from an online vendor. And the entire PS community is here to help you do just that.

thank you very much for your quick reply. i plan to go to diamond district first to compare diamonds and prices. if their price are way higher than online, i''ll just order from the internet.

Great idea! When you go, make sure to ask to see the diamonds in different types of light (jewelry store lighting can make even the worst stones look great), and ask to see different coloured stones to see how warm you like your diamonds--if you like the look of J or K stones, you can get a much bigger stone that if you only stick in the colourless range, so don''t be scared to look at the lower colours! There are some here on PS that are AMAZING!

Cut is also really important--generally you want to stick with stones that are ''ideal'' or ''excellent'' grades for cut. This more than anything else affects what kind of performance you get out of your stone, and a really well-cut stone like an ideal cut will make lower colours like Js and Ks look very white.

Most of all, have fun with it! It can be overwhelming, but there are so many knowledgeable people here on PS that, once you figure out what you''re looking to buy, you will be amazed at the money you will save buying online instead of from a B&M store. And then maybe you''ll get hooked.

Just do a search for them here in the search box up above and you'll have all the answers you need. We bought my original ering from Mark and he's fabulous. Many of us have had great experiences with them. But it's better to call and make an appointment than just buy off the website because Mark has even better stuff in person!

mark T the owner of engagmentringsdirect.com is located in the diamond district. be sure to call ahead and set up and appt. with him. I''d trust him 100% and you''d have the benefit of having the best of both worlds, online pricing and working with someone local.

When I originally found Pricescope I was one of those people who would have never, NEVER, even considered making a diamond purchase online. Just didn''t sound safe. Well, I have to admit that Pricescope changed my mind and, after all the obsessing ,I decided to use Engagement Rings Direct. I worked with Mark, the owner, and not only bought the diamond from Mark, but had him create a setting, as well. Hubby and I loved working with Mark and were extremely pleased with the entire process and the final result. Good luck to you!!
