I wanted to get people''s thoughts about this diamond...
http://www.exceldiamonds.com/diamond/3294.html

I have read through PS''s invaluable information several times over and would be lost without this web site. Thanks to all the people who contribute to it. I have been combing the web off and on for several months and realized the task can be daunting when choosing the "best" engagement ring for my future fiancée (hopefully). I want to stay within a budget of around $6000 (diamond/setting/ring). Obviously, I want the best cut possible, would like to stay at or above G color and at minimum an "eye clean" SI1. I found this one at superbcert which fits my criteria. Also, I will most likely go with superbcert Tiffany Ring Classic Diamond Engagement Ring In Platinum. (I will contact them to see if they are willing to set a different companies stone). I would truly appreciate anyone''s input regarding the above diamond and/or suggestions for another diamond that would fall into the above criteria.

Thanks again for anyone''s help

Hi nt,

It looks like it should be a very pretty diamond! Make sure it''s eyeclean, and you''re good to go.

nti,

Welcome.

1) I''m sure that pick would be lovely,
2) I hate to see the selection of a ring dictate the selection of the diamond, you do seem to be leaving $1K or more on the table, and I can see where SuperbCert''s selection is driving that.
3) Using the sbc db here, 7 options from other guys do appear, and I''d encourage you to check them out. Are you sure their Tiffany style''s aren''t good enough...and any of them will take you to either .9 carats, or to 1 carat & beyond...including this one and this one (plus 5 more).
4) 5 of these 7 are from JA. It''s possible SC can get their hands on them in their own way, or, JA has offices in NY, too, so maybe they can help put this together.
5) Threads will review here how SC has coordinated with other vendors on this, and you can help lubricate the process by insuring in advance of having the ring set...though it''s not cake to do.
6) Did I say your original pick would be lovely? It would.

Best,

I second what Ellen said...

Thanks for everyone''s input. Especially regular guy. I know what you mean when you say the ring should not dictate the diamond. Hopefully things will work out. Pulling the trigger on the diamond purchase will keep my stomach turning for awhile.
I''ll probably post again soon for some more expert opinoun.

Again thanks for help.
