Hello everybody!
Newbie here, needing some serious help on a setting.
My husband just upgraded my 1 carat Asscher to a gorgeous 3 carat cushion and I need a new setting.
I'm dead set on a micro-pave halo but I need details to give to the jeweler who will be making my custom setting.
For all the women who have custom made halo settings - could you please tell me what information I must have? I know there are so many little details such as total carat weight of the halo, size of the band, prong setting detail and how high it sits on the finger, ect. ect.
I'm posting a photo of my stone (it's the bottom diamond on my finger) along with some halo settings I like.

Any and all advice/direction is VERY welcome and needed!
Thank you in advance!!

Gorgeous diamond!

What is your budget for the setting and do you have a strong preference for either handforged or a casted ring?

Have you seen examples of the jeweler's pave work, and are you happy with it? From my time here on PS I have learned that not all jewelers are equal in terms of producing good quality pave - I don't mean any disrespect to your jeweler and he might very well do nice work, but I think it's important to make sure. Depending on your budget, there are options that many PS'ers have used for pave work with success. Victor Canera, Steven Kirsch, and Maytal Hannah are examples. They are experts and do top-notch work. Victor and Steven are more expensive I believe. There is a company called Engagement Rings Direct that can also do hand forged or cad. I would suggest you at least do a search on PS to learn about pave and see examples of good pave work, and check out their websites to get an idea of what you would like. I can't really help with specifics as to what to tell your jeweler, it depends on your stone and the particular proportions. Others more knowledgable with pave work will be along to help.

Thank you Gypsy, everything you said is very true and thankfully the jeweler making my ring is one of the best from the diamond district here in NY who has done beautiful work for me in the past.

:-) Good news!

Gypsy - Would love your advice on how you think a cushion should be set. I've noticed some women mentioning having their cushion set slightly tilted at an angle to catch more light/give it more sparkle. What are your thoughts on having it set evenly vs tilted in the setting and slightly elevated above the halo vs even/flush with the halo. I hope this makes some kind sense due to my lack of terminology.

I have no idea what you mean about setting it crooked, I'm sorry.
