Hi all,

I've finally come into possession of a total of 9 pink diamonds from my mother. They are approximately 15 pointers and each is roughly 3.5mm in diameter. I'd like to put them into a really nice 5-stone (or maybe 7, but my finger is small so I don't want to go too crazy) to replace my wedding band, BUT, my engagement ring is set low and therefore the 5-stone must sit as low as possible.

Budget is a factor so if anyone knows of a stock setting from the likes of adwar, unique, etc that sits very low to the finger, preferably with prongs BETWEEN the stones, that would be really helpful as I'm having trouble sorting through all the settings and understanding what is available for my stones. I'd like to spend no more than about $800 on a setting.

Prefer platinum or palladium if possible, but would consider 14k if not available. I can be hard on my rings so prefer durability.

Thanks in advance!

Oh, that's lovely! Can you post some photos of the pinks for us?

Naturally coloured pinks often aren't super saturated - not like pink sapphires. I'd really recommend a rose gold setting (or, at least, a setting with a rose gold head) to play up the colour - unless the pinks are very strongly coloured white metal is going to wash them out, especially in that size.

Many of the vendors often referenced here on RT won't work with customers' stones. I would suggest reaching out to David of Diamonds by Lauren - I'm not sure what DBL's policy on this is, but his passion is coloured diamonds and he may be able to help you find the right style and metal to showcase your stones in ::)

I have a wonderful local jeweler, but since he hasn't seen all the stock settings in person, he suggested that I "ask around" and who all knows more about 5-stone settings than Pricescope?

He'd be willing to make me something custom, but as budget is a factor I really wanted to see if there was anything out there first.

Point taken on the metal colors, and I am not opposed to rose gold.

Hunt Country does nice work and when I inquired a couple of years ago their prices were extremely reasonable: http://www.huntcountry.com/
They made Kelpie's ring: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/victorian-style-yellow-diamond-5-stone-ring.177598/

Many vendors won't showcase settings specifically for stones of this size. They'll be listed as wedding bands, etc., with stones included, which makes 'seeing what's out there' difficult because as consumers we can't separate cost of setting from cost of setting with stones - if the vendor will even sell the setting separately, or set your stones, or has the metal you want... If you see something particularly interesting on a site your best bet is to call in and ask.
