My mom purchased a yellow diamond with a white gold double halo (from a vendor who I dislike a great deal). The diamond was pale in most lighting, had no sparkle or fire and didn't have the crushed ice look that she requested. 
The vendor removed the diamond and offered her another diamond that was $6,000, 0.84 carat, fancy intense with lots of fire and brilliance. They told my mom that to get the intense color, they would have to foil the diamond and bezel it with yellow gold. My mom dislikes bezels.
At my urging, mom then called a PS vendor who offered to buy her double halo setting for $500 less than she just paid for it and offered to sell her a different yellow diamond ring that would cost even more than what she is currently looking at.
I want to help her but I'm not really sure at this point what to do. Any suggestions?
