Help with upgrading my diamond

Hello everyone. I''m new here, I have been reading the boards for a while but this is my first post. I need help in upgrading my diamond in my wedding set. Right now I have a .51c, E, VVS1, Ideal cut. That''s about all I know about it right now. I want to upgrade to about 1.25c. I can only spend about $5000. What can I get for that price if anything in that range? What is the best that I can do? My diamond I have now is beautiful but I want a larger one. What range can I go to and not be disappointed in it''s quality? Thanks for your help. I am so confused. It seems like the more I learn about diamonds the more confused I get!

Well, there are quite a few possibilities: a superideal branded H&A in E color I-1 clarity (in this case there would not be any color difference) or I/SI or J/VS. It really depends on you and on your taste. Your current stone is very white so I doubt you'd like a darker one. But who knows?

I'm biased, I know, but I have a 1.24 ct., exceptionally well cut stone that is H, SI2. I would have also considered I, SI1. And yes, it can be done for $5k.




My H stone faces up plenty white, but then again, I've never worn an E. You'd have to see it yourself to make sure you'd be okay with it.
