Hi guys,
here is a link to the PoH that I am getting from GOG. http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/4136/
I am very happy with it, However, I''ve just got a couple reservations and would love some feedback.

1. It doesn''t have a full lab report, only an AGS "diamond quality analysis". I have researched some threads on these, but opinions seem mixed. Do I need a full cert for insurance etc? Will not having the inclusion plot create issues for me in any way?
2. The inclusion is, according to Jon''s advice a healed feather that does reach the surface of the pavillion of the diamond (I''m not clear on how far it travels through or if its close to girdle yet). Jon has said that I''m safe, but as I know nothing of inclusions i''d really like ur thoughts. Could I have durability/setting issues?
(I do plan to have this re - set in the future).

I just want u all to know that I of course trust Jon''s advice and judgement, I''m simply seeking more opinions. I''m just a lil concerned about getting this to Australia without all the info as will be a drama to have re certified or anything here.

Many thanks
AJ

Hi AJ, I can''t offer any advice regarding the inculsions you are concerned about, but thought I might be able to add a little bit of perspective. I happened to be in MDT designs today, a high end melbourne jeweller you have mentioned before. While I was waiting to have a ring repolished I couldn''t help but overhear a salesperson helping a customer who was looking at purchasing a diamond. While I do give her credit for telling him that cut was what infulence the appearance the most, I nearly choked when she quoted him a price of over $5000 Australian dollars for a G SI round brilliant of just under half a carat, telling him that he was getting a good deal as the price increased once you got over the half carat mark. I''m guessing that your diamond is significantly cheaper than this even when considering import taxes and duties.

Hi Softly,
$5000! Thats just plain a joke. I don''t wanna sound patronising but sometimes I feel just plain sorry for ppl in Aust who buy this sort of nonsense misinformation

Its no wonder the SA''s get so defensive here if you mention buying from US, they must be aware that they really can''t compete.
Thanku for offering ur story, you''re correct in that this diamond I''m getting is alot cheaper than that and most likely a better cut aswell. However I do still want to make sure I''m not going wrong with the inclusions and cert

any other opinions? I would love to hear from experts about the feather?
TIA

AGS doesn''t have a cut grade that works on a poh so that''s the top report you can get.

Jon is the only one that can give you a solid answer on the inclusion and I trust him on it.

I have an inclusion plot on my analysis.

Hi strm, I'm, aware of there being no accurate cut grade for these yet..
its really the lack of an inclusion plot I'm cautious of. Like NY DC mentioned, she has one on hers. I didn't realize there was such variation between types of reports from AGS..?

Basically I'm just curious whether I should be asking for an inclusion plot or no?
cheers!

ETA: sorry, when u say this is "the top report" I can get, do u mean its better than the usual certificates we see? if so, in which way? thnx

hmmm new one on me too... dqa with no plot, they followed GIA''s lead.
The report Jon will supply will have the clarity photos from the site on it that should be enough.
Its not worth sending it back for a DQR which would be the top report for it from AGS.
DQD wouldn''t apply because of no cut grade available.

I have the inclusions plot on my AGS report for my PoH. I had it insured through Touchstone... I uploaded my AGS report and the appraisal from GOG. I had no problems getting a policy.

When it is reset in a Maytal Hannah setting, I was thinking about switching the policy from Gemshielf (repair or replace policy) to a Chubb policy (cash policy). I spoke with agent Ralph Cohen about this- very helpful and knowledgable.

It took just a few minutes to fill out the online application and the policy was in effect the next day at 12:01 am.

thnx for reply strm -no educated opinion to offer on healed feathers?
Sera thnx for the input, but remember i''m in australia so none of thoser insurers apply here!

I think chubb is the only one that offers a stand alone jewelerry policy here, I will have to look into it.
I wk for an insurance co. so I know the standard thing here is having to add a personal valuables policy to ur home insurance, which I''m not keen on doing.

I would think the photos are more accurate in plotting inclusions than a hand plotted diagram. The photos have arrows and are take from the top and bottom.

It's a beautiful stone!!

Hi swingirl, thankyou for the vote of confidence - I can''t wait to see it in person!
Even though I haven''t decided on a setting yet, I''ve decided to wire the diamond $$ to GOG on monday to take advantage of the great exchange rates..(Aussie to US)..almost 94cents yay!!
