Hi there,

I'm looking for opinions on the oval diamond please, stats below:

1.54ct
VVS2
E
Very Good

It has strong fluorescence but apparently does display any negative effects.

Hopefully the below photo works:

Very interested in your views. Unfortunately I cannot view in person..

Thanks in advance

GIA graded stone?

Yes GIA. More stats:

Length/ width ratio: 1:34
Depth: 63.1%
Table: 58%
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Very good
Girdle: Slightly thick to thick
Cutlet: None

Thanks very much - very much a newbee

Also, for context, the diamond is $10,784. My budget does not exceed $11,000 and I'm located in the UK. Am I correct in assuming that it's a good diamond for the price?

I'm concerned about the bow tie effect, from the photo how would you say this ranked?

Thanks again,
Matthew

It's very difficult to the point of impossible to assess a fancy cut such as an oval based on a picture alone. Do you have an ASET image of the stone?

Unfortunately not.. I won't be able to get one either. Potentially a case of suck and see and appraise it in person? Thanks for your reply

I would steer clear on that basis. There are vendors who will provide such images and for such a huge purchase, I would want to be on the safe side.

If your heart is set on this one, does the vendor of the stone have a good returns policy?

It's from Blue Nile - I live in the UK and it's the best price with income duty and taxes (that I know of.) Does anyone have any better recommendations for delivery to the UK?

It's very nerve wracking, but they have a 30 day return policy. It's a massive purchase that I'm not entirely comfortable with.

Thanks again,

Diamondseeker2006 has an excellent quote in her signature- "if in doubt, don't".

I would speak to Jonathan at Good Old Gold (who posts here as Rhino), as they include plenty of images showing light return with their listings. You could also look at James Allen, as they will provide an ASET image for up to three stones of your choice.
