Hi,

I have done some research to get my first diamond for my gf. I found some matches from pricescope's search engine, and would greatly appreciate if someone could advise.

1. I am looking for a diamond with colour, cut, symmetry, clarity, polish, ratio as priority in this order. Can someone advise which deal is more worth it?

2. Also, has anyone purchased diamonds from either one of these 2 websites, and would like to share their experience? Thanks!

Hi, would anyone be kind to help out on this? Appreciate it...

Hi there, thanks :)
I'm just wondering whether the ones you had mentioned are overpriced, and also I'm more inclined to go for 0.7 given the exponential price difference from 0.7 to 0.8, and also considering my budget.

Perhaps I should have made myself clearer, the ones I've posted have the combination I'm keen in, and would like to know which is of a better value. Hence, for instance, <= VS2 , <= Good cut/polish/symmetry, <= F colour or above US$ 4500 would not be what I'd consider. Of course, I'd be glad to have more choice better than the posted ones. Could you help me given these criteria, to evaluate which of the diamonds I selected are better deals?

Gooddiamond,

Value is a difficult-to-define aspect in diamonds. Roughly, I think that there are two ways of considering it:

1. The first potential consideration of 'Value' is by comparing the bare 'paper' facts (4C's and further details) of a diamond, and then comparing prices. Most people will consider the cheapest option as the best Value, and anything priced higher as overpriced.

2. Another school is to consider the Value of a diamond as an inherent quality of the diamond. I would define it as such 'The inherent Value of a diamond is the price for which you can always sell it.' A clear indication of such value could be the buyback-guarantee of a vendor.

Following that second definition, I am currently experimenting with the calculation of Value. Since most vendors have no clear buyback-policy, I simply consider how much I would pay for a diamond, if it were offered to me. And then, I must say that your options all weighing exactly 0.70Ct are less valuable to me and most of farmer-gal's suggestions have better inherent value.

Live long,
