Last year I used this site to help me find the perfect diamond ring and I am still grateful for all the help. Now I am back and need help finding studs for my 1 year anniv :)

I just started the research phase but need to do this quickly.

I went to a few different stores and am looking at around 1.4 to 1.5 tcw round diamond studs.

The stores I went to do not provide certificates with these studs. They both said that they typically don't have the smaller studs certified. Is that a big deal?

The pair I like are 1.42tcw. The jeweler said they are I, VS2 and the cost is $3650.

Thoughts? Thanks in advance for any help!

Uncertified studs are not what they tell you. That's why they are uncertified, so they can say anything they want. I'd never buy studs over about .30 each without grading because you are more likely to overpay than anything else. Worst of all is that you have no idea of cut grade.

Here's a pair from WF. Two .70 I VS2's would run around $5800. The pair with one SI1 would be $5300. This would include the right to upgrade with full value.

I am checking for a less expensive option.

OP
I have had success both times with Leslie at BGD
Best of luck

I appreciate the help!

any other suggested places to look for these studs? I went to a few more local shops (in the DC area) and none of the pre-set studs in the 1.5tcw size have certificates?

At any of the places we would recommend, you'll have to match up two graded stones. James Allen is another place, but WhiteFlash has a better upgrade policy. Or you can call ID Jewelry in NYC, tell them your budget and that you want 2 GIA Excellent cut stones that are eyeclean and they will see what they can find for you. They would call in stones so we can't really help you pick them out. I think they won't be any lower than B2C, though, for comparable stones.
