Help with some stuff that I saw on Abazias?

Hi everyone. I have been looking online for a while at diamonds, and have checked many of the sites that PS has listed (although I just stumbled on here recently and this is my first post). I noticed that Abazias seems to have the lowest prices, but also many are EGL graded (including EGL USA gradings), which I understand are not as strict as a GIA grading. When I entered the following search terms in Abazias''s diamond search, I came across a list that looked quite impressive; but I think these prices may be almost too good (especially the 1.8 ct G/SI2 listed at $5087).

The search terms that I entered were: 1.4-1.8ct, G-J and VS2-SI2 with a maximum price of $6k. I narrowed the search terms and still ended up with 309 results.

I understand that an SI1/SI2 is not going to be as good as a VS, and also about color - but between the size and cut, am I looking at some good diamonds for the price? Has anybody had any experience with this company?

Thanks for taking the time to read this. Sorry if I sound clueless, I have tried to read up a lot, but when I stumbled across this inventory I became a little more confused.

Patrick, don't worry about your questions, we are all here to help each other. Well, you want to use this tool to weed out bad performers. Look for stones between 1 - 2. using this tool http://www.pricescope.com/cutadviser.asp Read the info about it; this tool only works for Round Brilliants. What shape are you looking for?
Also, I would stick with GIA and AGS certs. Up top under RESOURCES, DIAMOND VENDORS, then next to the vendor click on READ and you can read reviews.
Also, you need to make sure SI1's and SI2's are eye clean. I would read under Knowledge under Advanced Tutorial about clarity. Welcome to Pricescope!!!!

Thanks for the quick reply. I am looking for a round brilliant. I was hoping to stick around $5k, give or take. Until I found PS, I was looking mostly on Blue Nile and was seeing stones around 1.2-1.3 usually I or J in color. I think she may be a size person though - or at least that is my impression without an outright "okay, what do you want?" That is what sparked the interest in the Abazias search return- but again I know that you get what you pay for...

Right. I would look for something you can afford now and maybe upgrade later. WhiteFlash and Good Old Gold has some great upgrade policies; you will want to read the vendor website.

Another big advantage with WF or GOG is that you will have the benefit of their expert opinion of the stones that they will look at prior to sending it out to you. Their opinions will be honest and frank. Plus you will get a considerable amount of data such as Idealscope, Sarin, reports.

The size and clarity are great, but realistically how yellow is an H? I also looked this up on the HCA tool and it said Very Good if the price is right. Thanks again.

That stone you linked to is an L...which will not be colorless. An H though is a very solid choice and will not look yellow at all.

And likely the really cheap ones on Abazias are very poorly cut. You'll pay more for an ideal cut, but it is SO worth it!

An L is going to look a bit tinged to many people. But it really just depends on how color sensitive you are.

It depends. I have a large L which doesn''t look yellow at all, especially face up. In some lights there is a slightly warm tint to the side of the stone, but not so much face up. A well cut diamond will show off any colour grade to it''s best advantage, and some even prefer the warmer colour grades, it depends on whether you or the wearer of the ring do.
