Hello!

I've been given the task from my soon to be husband to buy my own christmas gift! I have a budget yet have been given a specific piece to make/ look for!

Fellow PSers, I'd appreciate the help! Looking for a pear diamond in a pendant setting, or stud earrings. Due to the budget if I go with the pear necklace I'm most likely going to go lower in color and clarity and possibly bezel it in 18k gold to help hide any tint if any. If I go with the studs, I would like around .9 tcw or more bezeled (most likely miligrained) but I do believe that's definitely out of the budget.

I love fluor so I definitely want fluor in the any and all of the diamonds and I like to be around 800-1200 for the total. Less than $1000 is ideal but not sure it's possible.

I currently have on hold:

Would that be considered a good stone? Blue Nile says they do not provide any ASET images or such of this stone but they will get back to me if this is an eye clean diamond.

Are there any other options I'm missing? Whiteflash and BGD seem out of my budget, B2C hasn't gotten back to other request yet, James Allen is out of the picture and I'm currently looking at Blue Nile options. Thanks!!

I would want a diamond I would see the picture of before buying. And I would NOT buy a diamond with SI2 clarity without having a vendor that can look at it and tell me if it is eyeclean or if the inclusions impact performance. There aren't enough eyeclean diamonds at SI2 clarity to justify the risk IMO, even though BN has a very good return policy.

Pears are very spready and you can get a very nice 50-60 point diamond for a bezel pendant.

You can call and ask for an ASET for any of these (it will tell you what the light return is like on these). You can also ask them what their gemologist thinks of them, and have their gemologist pick the brightest eyeclean pear with the best performance for you.

You can also look for a second hand diamond, larger than these, but that would be harder.

Here are a couple more to consider.

Thanks for the response Gypsy! And so many choices! I appreciate it! I'm going to go ahead and email how eyeclean some of these are!

I immediately clicked the J pear thinking that's the one I'd most likely go for as I'd be okay with warmth but the picture on their site alarmed me a bit! I may end up going for a G-H or higher as it seems pears definitely show more warmth than I realized than say a RB.

Also, I was wondering if there are any other reputable sites besides James Allen that can give vendor advice and real pictures. James Allen is actually the only vendor that I would have to pay tax for... unless their diamonds are still under the competitors price after tax.

There are many vendors who can provide you with what you need. JA is just easy because they have the most posted up front.

GOG can source great pears, so can Engagement Rings Direct. Both have the tools you need to take pictures of whatever they find for you and both have a good track record with finding nice fancies.
