Help with setting

Hi - Im pretty much a newbie to all this but trying to educate myself. After months of looking we think we have found a setting that we like:

Unfortunately I am not too hot on their return policy not to mention the inability to see the ring before purchase. On top of that they informed me that I couldn''t purchase just the setting and that I needed to get a diamond as well. So suffice to say I won''t be buying from them. My question is where can I find something like that setting? I really like the art deco type shank and that type of halo. Does anyone know a designer that makes something close to that style? Or someone who could custom make it with reasonable prices (we live in the NY area)? The setting, before choosing the diamond, was quoted at $2000. Thanks.
 
Yeah Fay Cullen's return policy and customer service is quite bad in my experience...

I would give Mark at Engagement Rings Direct a call. He's in NY and has access to thousands and thousands of settings as well as doing very nice custom work. His prices on stones are also very good if you are in the market for a diamond. Just send him the pictures and your budget and he'll advise you on what he can find/make for you.

I also think that Maytal Hannah and Whiteflash are vendors who could make something gorgeous for you, but they are both not in NY if that makes a difference.

You might also want to check out the brand Beverly K. They have a lot of rings with that same feel and prices are reasonable. Pearlman's is a great vendor for Bev K.
 
Thanks for the help. Funny, I already spotted those two the other day. I guess we have to go the custom route. The second one is pretty close but we really don't like any pave diamonds on the shank, which seems to be the way every designer is going with. It looks great in pics and then when we went and tried them on her finger it looked a bit too gaudy for us/her.

And, while I have a couple of people who seem to know what they are talking about I was wondering about the European cut in that setting. I like how the top (girdle?) of the diamond juts out a bit. Are there any more common cuts that do the same? Also, we were budgeting for up to $18,000 (but hopefully no more than $15,000) for the diamond itself - I am trying to educate my self on this part but i just discovered fluorescence and how it effects the color of the diamond. What should I be looking for if I want a nice blue tint with sparkle or a brilliant white sparkle? I just mastered the four C's and now feel totally lost in fluorescence and symmetry and how it effects the shine of the diamond....I'm sure I'm echoing the sentiment of generations of men but why couldn't this be simpler?
