Hi,

I am going to buy an e-ring for my girlfriend tomorrow. I need to figure out her ring size but she only wears one ring that fits only her index finger and is a size 5.5. (I tried to measure her ring finger when she is asleep but failed :nono: . She moved around too much and she tended to grab onto things when she sleep.) I was going to go for 4.75 but it might still be too big. I've heard that too big is better than too small as it would be easier to resize the ring if it doesn't fit. What size of a ring do you think I should get for her  .
Please help!! Thanks.

Frank

I'd just ask her. Resizing can take a couple of weeks. Too big and she chances losing it. Too small and she can't wear it at all. In my mind, neither is a great thing to deal with right after being presented with a ring. Chances are that the engagement isn't a complete surprise. I assume that marriage and engagement has been discussed at some point so asking her for her ring size shouldn't be a total shock to her.

My index finger is more than a full size different, so I'd say 4.5 just to be safe. But I would ask the jeweler if she can bring the ring back in to be resized while she waits. No girl wants to be without her e-ring right after she gets it! And don't let her size it too snug because rings are tighter in the summer.

what style of ring are you planning on getting her...one that can be easily resized? if not I would get her measured. if so then I think you are OK with 4.5.

My index finger is size 5.5. My ring finger ranges from 4.25 to 5, depending on the weather. My e-ring is 4.75 because that size is most comfortable for me. I think you should ask her.

I was thinking 4.75. BTW - my size is 4.25, but my DH wanted to surprise me too, so his jeweler suggested 4.5. We took it to Stephen Fox Jewelers in Greenwich CT (not where purchased, but where we lived) and they sized it down the same day.
